Tricky one. Personally would have no issue buying a remapped car. Then again it would have to have been done be from one of the 'usual suspects' so I could call for an opinion, and I only ever buy v. low mileage used cars.

Sub plot - those of you who have stage one cars, when you sell will you:

a) keep it tuned and sell it as such, 505 bhp being a selling point.
b) keep it tuned but not disclose and sell it as unmodified. (bearing in mind you may not allow anyone to test drive it anyway)
c) put it back to stock before selling.
RS4 B5. Where it all started.
RS6+ Never to be replaced.
Replaced by: 997 Turbo. Didn't like.
Replaced by RS6. I like(d).
Land Rover Defender. Not as nippy.
Back with C6 RS6
And again C7 RS6

Funny isnt it Bob, if you did allow somone a test drive that very extra performance may
well seal the sale so long as you havent disclosed the fact that its been remapped.

But if you state in your advert, that its had said work done, no one will be interested.

Ironic as I was thinking about this whilst out today... I am still tempted by a remap, but I was going to call round to get a price that included returning to stock whenever I wanted such as when I come to sell so that I don't have to pay any extra £'s at a later date.

Having said that, whilst I was out today the car went like stink, I was gobsmached when the car kicked down to 4th when I was on a deserted A Road, as I was going rather fast at the time and I put my foot down just a little further when in D... the car launched itself forward as if i was just doing 50mph and went to overtake someone. Goodness only knows at what speed it would actually stop accellerating at such a rate
Present:...
Lotus Evora GT410 Sport, Caterham 420R, CCM Spitfire, VW T2 Bay Window 1976

Past:
DB11 AMR, 992, 991.2, Yamaha MT01, 640d Gran Coupe, 635d Coupe, RS6 C5, Audi TT 225 Coupe, Astra with wind up windows, Citroen ZX, Rover 213, yes behold, a Rover 213... Renault 5

Steve ... I think any of the more reputable tuners will turn your car back to stock for an admin fee, some may do it for free.

I'll be looking for a totally stock one. Reasons :-

I prefer to decide what tuning, if any, to do.

Upgrading, for me, is all part of the enjoyment of ownership.

I would want any remap to be a custom one and tailored to my requirements, and by a tuner of my choice.

Yeah I would just get it mapped and the put the standard software back on come selling time as a standard car will appeal to more people than a modified one.

Are the RS6's not just flash loaded when getting remapped like the 1.8T's etc? This way it should be a 2 min job to go back to standard and some even come with an ECU plug that you can do it yourself for when its getting serviced.
