Rusty Wheels

Post by Davey_B » Wed Dec 27, 2006 12:13 pm

Just been to the dealer to inspect the S6 I'm hopefully picking up on Friday and I noticed that the inside wheel mounts are very rusty. I know its not just this car because it's the same on the other S6 they have in stock as well. Looks really crappy, but as it's not unique to the car I'm buying, it's probably an A6 thing. Anyone got the same problem and what, if anything have you done about it.

Is it the bell of the brake disc your referring to there!? New set of discs and it'll probably look brand spanking.

I only had a quick look and it could be, but the car is only a July 06 car so won't be needing new discs for a little while hopefully. I'll post some pics when I get the car on Friday, so you can see what I mean.

Oh I see... had wrongly assumed old S6; if you look here there are a couple of photo's of RS4 & RS6 discs, if you saw the car with its wheels on (I assume they were), then you'd be looking at the black bit of the RS4 floating disc. If they are really corroded, you can get high temperature black paint to conceal it.

Oh and enjoy your new car... some nice toys in that thing; havent heard one run yet but I imagine it sounds very nice indeed.

Good to see that in the new S6 they have finally worked out that they can fit battery and a spare wheel in the boot without having to resort to a can of crazy foam.

Thanks Steve, its not actually on the discs its behind the wheel, between the alloy itself and the disc. I'll post a pictutre when I get the car. (The link in your post doesn't seem to work)

It's a nice car and it does make a good sound, although nothing like the B7 RS4 I'm part x'ing. I know the motoring press aren't big fans of the car but if you need a load lugger that gets a move on when you want it to, there really isn't that much to choose from. So for the foreseeable future it ticks the boxes.

Found an image of an S6 wheel. The corroded part is the bit between the alloy and the disc as shown. Really lets the car down so I need to find a fix. Any ideas anyone?
