The software is pretty limited, so find me someone who can write PHP and I'll happily let them do it.

You've done a top job Phil.
Anyone coming onto the site will be impressed by the comprensive model by model coverage.

Sorry Phil, I think I missed the voting part and I didn't intend to imply its a lousy job at all or you wasted your time. Just ignore my comments.

Re: New Forum....
OK, so firstly many thanks to Paul (Audi_Parts_Guru) for helping me with the model details. I have created a new category for S models pre 2000. There is a button to collapse entire categories, it is the '-' sign before the name of the category (Click the '+' sign to expand).
I think this is about as good as it gets. Our forums now cover every S and RS car produced by Audi.

You don't have to worry about missing posts either, as the catergory header will change colour if there are new posts.
I think this should work, just need to get used to it. Would be nice to see some posts in the 'pre 2000' area .
Just imagine a day out with at least one of each

Re: New Forum....
As a complete solution to all RS and S models i think over a period of time certain areas will be used more than others and then if then we dont see any action there we can delete as appropiate, all were trying to do here guys its make it more appealing to other owners who might not have anywhere to go.
Phil well done Mate

Re: New Forum....
okay,
how about a bit of feedback from a new guy to this place.
I used to frequent RS4.org for a while, and visit many other boards to do with my other cars.
IMO The layout of this site is great. I like the fact that I can shrink certain areas. I also like the fact that each area tells me how many posts have been made since my last visit, without having to go into each one and have a look.
Personally I would put the car specs in a different area rather than being 'topped' posts in the forum.
I liked the old facility in rs4.org to be able to compare specs of different S cars, but no doubt that will come when you guys get the time.
I also think as more people find this site you will get more posts in the lesser used areas. And does it really matter if one area doesn't get many posts ?
I regularly visit the Rennlist forum and some of those areas don't get a single post from one week to the next.
One thing I haven't found on this site yet though is a calendar. This would be really handy to find any future events, whether they are pub meets or car shows.
It is just too easy to miss a post on this sort of thing, especially if it only ends up in one group.
I would also say that you might like to consider having some form of paid membership inthe future. Now hold on before you all explode
This can be voluntary, and maybe just entitle members to a discount with certain places rather than be necessary to post or access certain areas. It will also help pay for anything you decide to create, like stickers, badges, etc.
Any stickers and the like all help to promote this place, and in turn bring in more people.
If you don't like the term membership, well, consider them donations to help towards the upkeep of the site...
two final things I miss are all the scanned reviews that used to live on the RS4.org site, and some form of a buyers guide. I'm currently shopping for an RS4, and so would love to know what all the problems are to look out for.
From past experience these sort of questions crop up time & again on these sort of lists, and it would be handy if we could just say 'go read the faq' or 'go read the buyers guide'.
Appologies if there is one, but I haven't seen it yet.
Sorry if that is a bit too much feedback in one dose
Cheers for now, and keep up the good work,
John.
