wheel alignment

Post by s4gilly » Wed Dec 13, 2006 6:28 pm

Anybody know of a good place to go for full 4 wheel alignment in the midlands?

Are audi dealers any good for service and price on wheel alignment?

Thanks

I got a "special" rate on my Alignment from Aylesbury Audi. About £150 all in. Less than the cost in time it takes at the normal hourly rate at least.

APS in Brackley could have done it for less I'm sure and they have a Beissbarth setup. They may still be a bit far South for you - close to the M40 though and I can recommend them.

I used a place in Warwickshire called Stealth Racing www.stealthracing.co.uk. They charged me £100 all in. They also have the same machine Audi use (Beissbarth).
Hmmm, its fast but is it fast enough!!!

they still didnt know wot a positive charge warning code meant tho... oooopps..... off on a tangent again......
What I would like to know is there a company that can do the front camber as well as the tow....? and the x-axis(thrust)
Its an adjusting block(s) that slots/bolts into the f/subframe underneath, you can then adjust the front camber, principles are moving the subframe on the chassis...?

Anyone know who does this ...? :smile_smoking:

Although initially shocked, I don't think the £150 (or just under) I paid to be too bad. Of course a specialist with the same kit might have come in cheaper.

However I could have paid £80 for an alignment and it not have been the Beissbarth machine. I have heard of all sorts of horror stories with alignment so was happy to pay to ensure it was done right, first time.

I can dig the prints outs out if you want, but I am sure they align everything to the centre of the car, not just the wheels in relation to each other.

After listening to the crap a local national tyre type place was coming out with and wanted to charge £100 for their alignemnt, I would have happily paid Audi £200! Only for 10 minutes after leaving the tyre place though!

Thats not special........

Had mine done at Bedford Audi, £120 inc VAT. This was 4/4/06 after taking it two other places and getting ripped off.

I learnt a lesson (again!), go straight to Audi instead of trying to save a few pennies ......

S4gilly, try a few different Audi workshops, because the price can vary widely.......Milton Keynes Audi was well over £300, Bedford was £90 for a check, £120 for an adjustment :thumb: I've used Wolverhampton and Halesowen Audi before I moved down here last November. Halesowen reception staff are far more attractive then Wolves ;)

I use ProTyre in Bristol for alignment on my S4 and they also swapped the tyres across from my old alloys to my new ones. Good service, good prices as Leon pointed out (I paid £23.50 per axle for toe adjustment incl. VAT, camber involves moving the whole sub-frame I gather?!) and they use a 4-wheel laser alignment setup - also lets you see exactly what they're doing to your car! They get my vote!
