Bugger. Got a cassette (remember those?) stuck in my Concert

Post by arS4 » Fri Dec 08, 2006 11:48 pm

Wifey borrowed the car today. Put a cassette in (FFS, WHY??!!! she's got a 'kin IPOD!!)
sadly, said cassette didn't play, and is now stuck in the head unit (Concert).

Thought it might need co-ercing, so I've attempted to assist its eject process, but to no avail.

Aside from getting some keys and removing the head unit (and taking the top off it), any suggestions?

FWIW, got it sorted today. Got some Audi keys (was "bricking" it, as I'd read about the potential for the release springs to stick).

Got the Concert out pretty easily, tbh - the springs were fine :)

Then as I pulled the connectors off the back, I noticed some "jangling" - I thought "Uh Oh - not good" :(

Took the lid off.........

and picked up about 60p in loose change!!! :D

This had jammed the cassette in, and therefore wouldn't play, nor eject.

This also explains why the radio would sometimes just switch off for no reason - I'd put it down to a loose connection at the back, but it was actually the loose change shorting the stereo out!!

Anyhoo, sorted out, put back in the car, and all is working fine now :D

Looks like the previous owners' kids had used it as a money box, and even though I've had the car 6 months (only use the stereo for my Ipod), never had cause to check it out.....

All's well that ends well etc :D
