Labour rates and Ceramic brakes

Post by Andyuk911 » Wed Dec 06, 2006 10:27 pm

couple of Qs

1. what labour rate does your dealer charge ? Tonbridge Audi told me £99 + VAT

2. Anybody running Ceramic brakes on a RS4 ? Any problems or any idea of costs to replace the pads .. I assume they are the only item that needs replacing.

Thanks

1. Which is why I go all the way to Banbury (along with the better service at MRC) rather than darken the door of Tonbridge Audi which is 5 miles away from me....not know as Stealers for nothing.

2. Very expensive conversion....I would think that the caliper design would need to be specific for ceramic disks as well as a special pad. The disks are mean't to last though Porsche where having failures at 10K miles I believe.

Assuming it a V8 RS4?

The pads are £274,17 +vat
The discs as they are £3324,09+ vat each. I would think/hope the discs would be covered under warranty?

Sounds about right and is the reason why I haven't used a dealer for the last 2+
years. There are a few independents who are half the price and know 5 times
as much about these particular cars. It seriously bugs me, it should be illegal
to charge that much......

Many thanks for the replies ... all very useful..

The brakes to buy(on a new car) are £4,235 and have great benefits for track days ... but could I feel comfortable having to cough up £6+ for new disc ... I don't think so !
