Are u getting better spool up etc.
Is it the best on the market?
See,

Its hard to say if it spools up quicker, I would say yes, but there is not much in it, you would only notice it if you jumped from one setup to the other I feel.

As I said, main difference is how nice the bite is, no slip at all, and with the duel mass flywheel there is some give between the plates, now their is not so it does feel more direct.

If the mrs does not like 'jerky' gear changes don't get! as 1st / 2nd can be.[/url]

Have to disagree David, when I got my single mass lightweight flywheel I expected it to help, but you know what, it made little difference!! Maybe a little better, but not a lot to be honest ... :(
RPM dies much, much faster with mine, no need to debate that ;)

Perhaps its in your mapping. Do you have the over-run fuel cut off enabled for example ?

Really??!? Right, dam, another thing to look into!!! (Where are these light evenings when you need them!!)

I did not realise you had a lightweight flywheel, and I just assumed that mine was the norm, apologies.

Well, its an MRC map, and I have no idea how to, or check that I have the over-run fuel cut off enabled ...

This is good news, because I was a little disappointed when it did not make a difference. I mean, I did not expect it to act like an F1 engine, but I certainly expected a noticeable difference...

I've got an RS4 clutch and Tanoga lightweight flywheel.

If the over-run fuel cut off is enabled (like a standard car) the instant mpg reading on the DIS will go to --- when you lift off the gas over 1k ish rpm. If this feature is disabled, the DIS will only get to 100mpg or so.

The way the engine revs and dies is one of the first things people notice. 6+ kg less to turn I guess.

We're way off topic mind :)

Confusing, but it should be enabled, as per the factory settings:

Enabled = dis goes to --- on the overun - stock setting

Disabled= dis only goes to 100mpg or so on the overrun - tuner setting.

Very noticeable difference, car is smooher to drive with the feature disabled because the throttle is never 100% closed.

I could be talking arse about how the revs fall between gears with it enabled or disabled, it was just a quick guess when viperbl said his LWFW did not make any difference to how 'light' the engine felt. I noticed a big difference with the LWFW.

While we're on the subject David, does your LWFW have any significant effect on noise and urban/traffic "driveability"?

No, they leave it enabled usually, but being a very fussy customer, I've had a few settings changed to help with driveability, although mine is enabled again now.

I hated it for about the first week. Between 1 & 2k rpm on a high load in any gear (some worse than others) makes the gears chatter badly. I was annoyed with myself for spending a wedge on something that made the car worse :(

Since then I've got used to driving around it a little and I never notice it now, ever. When other people drive the car I remember it though :)

It works

Post by viperbl » Wed Dec 06, 2006 8:40 pm

I went out and tried changing gear with the right foot firmly planted to the floor the whole time.

It goes into gear easy, no issues, and then the clutch bites, no slip at all so as you can imagine quite a thump as everything sorts itself out.

Now the important part, as should be the turbo's are still spooled up, my boost gauge is showing around 1.2bar at redline, when I put the clutch in this drops off (although I assume this is pressure, at the turbos are still spinning). Once the gear is engage it immediately jumps to around 1.4 ish bar, which I would expect to get to eventually, but its more or less instant!

All happy now! Quick and simple anti lag system for my hill climb!

Mihnea seems to think that Tubular manifolds help speed up spooling... this is his experience when mapping with them? I would have thought the opposite, but there you go.
