TradeRS Members

Post by GrahamS4 » Wed Nov 29, 2006 4:37 pm

Hi,

I see there are a number of TradeRS members, who I assume are in the motortrade and pay the website owners for the priviledge of touting their wares or services.

The trouble is, I don't know what these wares or services are for the most part.

Now that is not a disadvantage to the business side of the forum, but it is a disadvantqge to me and to an extent the TradeRS members.

I was thinking of somehting along the lines of a TradeRS members directory. It could be a simple sticky thread.

I think it would help me, so therefore others.

You could say it's down to the Trade members to sufficiently advertise in their signatures etc, or forum banner space/time but I only see those by chance. This suggestion is aimed at helping members not traders directly if there is any doubt.

If I've missed something similar that already exists let me know pls!

Jacket on, start shooting!

my understanding is that they are forum members that have new and used parts for sale..which they can do on here without breaking any forum rules..i know we can sell a part here and there but cos im not an RStrader im limited to how much i can sell..i think..

For the record, the TradeRS status was set up to get round the problem of more expensive advertising that we have with banner adverts. It was designed for the small business with a price to match. The site requires income to run, and there were a few who were taking liberties and selling vast amounts of kit, making money from the forum but contributing nothing to its upkeep. There are very few sites which allow free advertising of businesses at which this is directed, individuals are not an issue unless we know......(not too hard to see what is being sold on the likes of Ebay) they are actually a business. Covert advertising or dropping hints that you carry out a specific business allied to the motor trade is the same as advertising, especially if you are doing business with site members.

I agree with Graham. I think it would useful to everyone if the TradeRS members had their details held on their own directory/thread. Things such as where they are based, what services they offer, etc.

That's not the point of TradeRS, it's what a business website is for IMHO.

Perhaps not the reason behind TradeRS no.

But as you are charging trade members, it seems a great resource of for us regualr S/RS owners. A company that pays to take part on the forum, must be the sort of company we want to know about.

I almost did for one member.

I was intrigued with what Grizz does.

He doesn't say from what I've seen and doesn't seem to advertise.

Then I thought there may be more really useful people like this myself and others don't know about.

Well as per the Section title, it was a suggestion.

The idea of the electoral role was not to use it as a mailing list, but it served a good purpose as a resource of names and addresses.
