So annoyed - why can't they just smash the window?

you can swop the locks for your locks no prob i believe..i think the wiring will be the same..
you have to drop the rear or the headlining to get to the hinge bolts that way u can shut the boot ,check the gaps/lines and adjust it before tightening the bolts up..

Apart from paint don’t think this would be a prob will be doing this in the spring after dickhead in 4X4 rearranged mine.

You would swap the lock over and disconnect the harness at the boot.

Fitting and aligning the tailgate may take time and you would obviously get a crate of beer in and ask a few mates round!

not buggered mate, just more messin. if ur insurance is sorting it dont worry, its not ur problem. if ur paying 2 have the tailgate repaired then its goin 2 cost more. the bodyshop will have 2 remove the glass. thats a pain in the ass on ur car! allso that looks like a lever mark, i take it u didnt find wot they broke the window with? they probably used a screw driver 2 lever the edge ov the glass, this blows the window easily. bet u had ur load cover back! they do that just 2 look under the cover! watch out avant owners!

Had exactly the same thing done to the tailgate of my RS4 just 2 days before I was due to move home! Complete and utter bas*ards. Hope you get yours sorted. I had the glass replaced and then the whole tailgate repaired in order to get rid of the crease. Common method of entry - lever a screwdriver against the glass edge to shatter the glass then punch a hole in it.

Still bloody upsetting.

Someobody probably spotted you getting out of the car and saw you take a laptop or something and they assummed you had more kit in the boot.

Hope you get it sorted soon.

thieving scum. My mate from work had his TomTom nicked with a brick through the window at the motorway services on the M5 at Birmingham. Was this done in broad daylight? CCTV not working? Inside job?

Chiphazzard - that's very kind. Yes I'll be there I think. Not sure rods will do the job though as it's right on the crease.

It was in Richard's Street just off the Aston Expressway.

I use a body shop near Brands Hatch if you need a good shop if you’re looking for one and he's cheap. He did my RS4 body conversion and full respray and best of all your like him.

Let me know if you want his number.
