Road tax increase?
Road tax increase?
I may hav a short memory from this time last year, but just got my road tax renewal notice through and it's £190 for a year, along with a CO2 reading - I've never had a CO2 reading on the renewal before and I thought it was cars made after a certain date (later than march 2001) that got judged on CO2 with all loder cars going on engine capacity.
Am I just imagining it, or have the rules changed, or should my road tax not be based on the CO2 rating of the car?
What's everyone else got on renewal recently?

RE: Road tax increase?
My B5 was £190 in March, my B7 was £210......... as far as I know, it runs from 1994 when cats became compulsory, have a look at the Dvla site, it is not exactly clear but does give some info.....
RE: Road tax increase?
Mines a 2000 RS4 and the tax disc was £175 in June this year - this is from table TC11 from this website:

RE: Road tax increase?
Sure my B5 S4 and '00 Golf TDI were both £175 last month. SO doubt it can be on CO2 as they are worlds apart.

RE: Road tax increase?
Just read this form the government website for car tax:
"Petrol car TC48
Cars registered on or after 1 March 2001 based on CO2 emissions and fuel type.
Please note: These rates apply only to cars that have been type approved within category M1 of Annex II to Council Directive 70/156/EEC and which have been registered on the basis of a type approval certificate that shows its carbon dioxide emissions level in terms of grams per kilometre driven."
Mine was reg'd on 2nd March 01 so it's in the time frame, but I'm sure I've never seen anything about the CO2 for the car before, so maybe it's only recently been registered under the above criteria??!
That's just mean! But hey ho, they've got you over a barrel!

Relates to new tax discs after 23 March 2006. See the link in my posting above.Mine was reg'd on 2nd March 01 so it's in the time frame, but I'm sure I've never seen anything about the CO2 for the car before, so maybe it's only recently been registered under the above criteria??!
