Following my odd failure presumably Turbo the car is going in for MRC500 treatment.

The list of parts is pretty extensive, these should be in at the end of this week. Took about 3-4 weeks for everything to come in. I will keep you all posted on the progress of this and of course the end result 8)

I cannot imagine what 500 bhp would feel like  Bit of a turn around considering you were contemplating selling the car not too long ago. Just wish I had the cash to splash out on my car! How long have MRC got the car for?

You must be sooo excited :biggrin3:

Sounds great.

Out of interest, what does that set you back? Please PM rather than post if you would like to answer.

If my turbo's ever go pop, I'll be down to MRC. Not that I can afford for them to go pop at the moment.

Good to tsee the MRC website progressing. Straight to the 500, what can i say, I'm jealous. I actually don't think I'd want more than 400 with no ESP and on my 225's, but I guess you don't have that issue.

Thats going to be some Beasty . Stage 3++ you might call it - particularly noted custom exhaust manifolds, flywheel , FMIC and lowered compression. :nogarors4:

Zero is there anyone else on here thats had this level of tune on their B5 S4. I remember Tartan Rob was around that power mark but achieved it differently with some RS6 hybrids. He got rid of his soon after - so i guess your planning on keeping it some time.

I will be keeping the car yes - I should hope so anyway. Unless of course I get a stonking offer for it once done :) - I still feel it is an "old" car when doing a daily commute.

I did the sums and these were my options:

1: 3-4k Set of K04's and that would give me 370 with scope to move upto 420ish if I added another 2k in bits (Intercoolers, injectors, pump, remap) - bonus here is ofcourse it can be progressive.
2: Option 1 but all at once £4-6k - 420BHP
3: Basically what I am having done now

I toyed with the idea of doing hybrids, but Mihnea has proven with his car the K04's with the right setup can perform VERY well. To get any more power I would need hybrids and I would also need the heads to be replaced. This would cost far too much all at once and to upgrade the heads at a later date would mean the engine has to come out anyway.

I thought I would be happy with 450+ - there are a couple bits from Mihnea's spec that I am not going to have - his clutch (Going for a custom Helix clutch - BRETT is having the same I believe). I am not fitting the RS4 Y-Pipe & MAF - also I am sticking with the standard (gutted pre-cats, std S4 CAT + Miltek single catback) exhaust for now. My result could be anywhere between 450 & 500 who knows, only a dyno run when done will tell that.

The total bill I am not sure yet, I have almost blindly said go ahead... almost certainly creep into 5 figures. MRC have been very good to me though as the turbos failed while the car was in their care, so my price is no reflection of what it would actually cost.

I think I will be the first "production" MRC500... the turbos, manifolds have only been on Mihnea's car and the FMIC BRETT has tried. All together I think I am a guinnea pig for their future products. I hope that does not turn out to be a bad thing :-/

Assuming all the parts are in this week work should only take one week and I should have the car back first weekend of December. I hope they can keep to this schedule.

10 days and counting...

Cheers,

Turbos are dead... so best case I fix it on the cheap for 3k then sell the car for 10-12k maybe? Loose everything I have put in so far and then but an RS4 for 25k and start all over... nah. If my car was in perfect working order and I could sell it yes I wouldnt be doing this upgrade, but things have happened the way they have so I just thought screw it and have gone the full hog :P

Sorry Bro' - should have asked this before now but it only just occurred to me. We all know K03s are the weak link with S4s - more so when the car is chipped. I guess this is because they are being pushed to the max....?

My question then is concerning your choice of K04s instead of bigger RS6 ones. With this kind of power are you pushing the K04s to the limit with the potential of early failure and ANOTHER big bill soon? I think Mik went through two sets of K04s so they are obviously not that great. Yes he had a problem with his car but he was pushing nowhere near 500bhp.

Just a thought... had to ask!

I dont think it is the fact that the K03s were being pushed hard that causes them to fail - its simply that they are weak turbos and are prone to failure. I dont expect a car running 500BHP will run for 150k some part has to fail of course, but how long will they last, not sure... long enough for me and a couple owners after me to enjoy many hours of happy motoring I should hope :P

Unless I've skip read over it somewhere, should I dare ask about brakes? Nothing in your signature about them. I see that the MRC car has RS4B7 or RS6 stoppers on the front..but what are you going to do?

Sounds like it'll be an awesome car!
