New Forum....

.... needed to be added into the S - Cars area.

To eliminate any confusion suggest its simply called S4 V8.

Cheers

Except the UrS4 (original S4 based on C4 platform underpinning the Audi 200) had a 4.2L V8 option. ;-)

Better to just stick with platform designations -- B5 for last-gen and B6 for upcoming model.

Naaa keep it as it is...... a simple look to the forum looks good, adding more sub-forums will make the list longer......

Good point Tim, deffo need something to cover the new model and rightly Rob, the older models as well - any suggestions (without clutter, but still complying with the model differences) would be welcomed. As ever, please bear in mind whether a forum will generate any interest in it's own right

Well spotted Tim

Cheers Andy. This will generate much of the interesting debate to come in the near future. Furthermore... This site will not survive without forums dedicated to new performance Audis as they arrive on the scene. It will do an "RS4.org", long may it rest in peace! Sorry Tim, that point was more directed to the older platform S4's. Your idea of a new forum for the S4 V8 will no doubt be implemented very soon

Spot on Tim, I completely agree.

Do we have C4, B5 & B6 S4 forums then ?

I say yes, cos if you build it, they will come

OK, let's talk guys, so you reckon chassis forums rather than model? Could work for us that know the numbers How about those that don't? Should we include both in the forum name?

Doesn't cover the facelifts and variations mate Bit too vague (plus got my old S4 new in 1998 )

I'd just keep it simple:

S4 (B5)
1998-2001 S4 Discussion

S4 (B6)
2002+ S4 Discussion

UrS4 (C4)
1992-1994 S4 Discussion

Click the image below to see how my suggestion would look ...
Image

Also note "B5", "B6", "C4", etc. refer to vehicle *platforms*, not chassis, which have their own designation (or "type"). For example, the B5 A4/S4 has chassis code 8D, the B6 A4/S4 has chassis code 8E and the C4 S4 is 4A. This is because multiple vehicles can be (and are) based on a single platform; think A4 platform which is the basis for the VW Golf/Jetta/NB, Audi A3/S3/TT and various Skoda and Seat models. Image

Rob, thanks for your illustration, but you would then need to extend S2, S6 and any other multiple versions

In addition this would be down to the number of posts made in each section. Some of these threads are not busy now, if we split them further this would not help

Maybe we should put it to the vote?

Also, never mind illustrations for here get on with the mods for ECC
Can't beat a bit of boost!

LOL!

Well, I think there's just cause for deliniating certain models like the S4. The UrS4 (C4) is completely different from the latest B5 S4, which in turn is nothing like the upcoming B6 version. All three models have different platforms, chassis and drivetrains. Topics on the new S4 4.2 scattered among threads for the S4 2.7T intermixed with stuff about the old 20-valve turbo S4 makes for confusing discussions. I hear what you're saying about thread counts and message quantity in a given model category, but don't think that's reason enough to keep them lumped together. ;-)

ECC updates coming! :-p
