Post by webbywagon » Mon Nov 06, 2006 11:54 pm

When i brake or turn the steering from lock to lock when moving i get a clonk/knocking noise. It's not a clicking like CV joints. Any ideas

Not ball joints..........a lot more expensive. The bushes on the brackets for the steering rack and Audi dont sell the bushes. YOU HAVE TO BUY A WHOLE NEW RACK....At a cost of between £700-£1000 + vat

That's serious money!

What about recon units? I assume if they are available they must renew the bushes somehow?

Yep I would suspect the suspension arm bushes which is what happend to mine. The bushes are an integral part of the arms so you have to buy the whole lot. I got my local VW dealer to fit them at half the price of the Audi dealer in Bishops Stortford.
