RE: Re: RE: NIP arrived the other day..........
Was there not a instance a while ago of some local "Chavs" in a Saxo driving around with the number plates from the "Saftey Camera" van.
RE: Re: RE: NIP arrived the other day..........
Didnt hear about that one..... but seems likey knowing the quality of brainpower used by local 'chavs' and the fast and furious brigade.
Re: RE: Re: RE: NIP arrived the other day..........
Out of interest we got one here at work some months ago and I wrote asking for the picture so that we could identify the driver as it could potentially be 1 of 6 or 7.
Never heard anything since...

Doesn't this mean that as a fleet operator you could be prosecuted for failing to keep records of who was driving a pool vehicle? CPS succesfully prosecuted Hampshire Police under this one!Out of interest we got one here at work some months ago and I wrote asking for the picture so that we could identify the driver as it could potentially be 1 of 6 or 7.

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: NIP arrived the other day..........
The form states you are obliged to state the name of driver 'If Known', by asking for the photo, it proves the photo was not clear enough to view the driver due to reflection or other obstruction, or the photo was taken of the rear of the vehicle.......... friend of mine had a rear shot produced in court, when the operator was asked to identify the driver, he claimed it was impossible and the case thrown out........

Good luck in getting off. By the way would also be interested in the Wilts website now I've moved there. Just been told by a neighbour that he's been done by a serries of white lines then a gap then another series of lines. Measures speed over the two points and the camera is in the hedge!? Never heard of these and neither has my Snooper obviously.

Here's an idea, don't speed in 30 zones

My missus has just received an apology from Norfolk Police she was accused of doing 58 in a 50 but the road was actually a national speed limit of 60. The van in question was parked in a lay-by with 2 national speed limit signs in front of him and one directly opposite him on the other side of the road. The excuse was the speed limit has recently changed , Bulls**t ive lived here for 2 years and its always been a 60.If my missus hadnt of challenged it she would now be 60 quid poorer or rather i would and 3 points richer...........Scum.

Yes indeed, main A140 from Ipswich to Norwich. They thanked my other half for bringing it to there attention and apparently letters are now going out to all the people who were wrongly accused.shineydave wrote:wonder how many "out of towners" they reeled in with that little number??

Just goes to show that these things are worth challenging. There are so many technical points that must be considered if prosecution is to be successful (for the old bill - Police and Criminal Evidence Act). They are not "loopholes" it is the law and the technical points are there to protect the old bill and the public to prevent miscarriages of justice.
Isn't it the case that a speed limit sign with a yellow background is actually illegal because the definition of a speed limit sign is a circular sign with a red border xxxcms (or probably inches) wide etc etc? I know (in the past) that such signs have been proved to be illegal and therefore the speed limit unenforceable.
On the point about "not speeding in a 30" .. statistics show that 70% of people get caught in 30 and 40 zones...so minimise the risk in built up areas by sticking to the 30 or 40 and then accelerate like bu**ery up to the national speed limit afterwards!

On the same lines as above, I had to call the Kent Safety partnership to tell them the 50mph sign on the m25 roadworks above the A2 was about 100 yards Before the next Specs Camera, therefore it was possible to get done. Also it was so unsafe as the bloke behind me was trying to get in my boot .....

Unless that is, you are driving in Bath........... I got stopped for taking off from roundabout in the B5......... by spotty oik plod who took exception to me launching car from 0-40 mph to get out of busy junction. I made the point of saying their is no law against accelerating as hard as you like upto speed limit....... his reply was that I was driving without care and consideration for others in that case.......... They al need to go back to plod school.
Upshot of letter writing to Dorset Plod is............ nothing........ they have not replied and letter was sent recorded delivery and was signed for the following day..........
I expect they will now issue proceedings based on the fact I failed to return form with details on it within 14 days.........
