Paul, try and get some more info on the Sportec option so that will hopefully explain why it is more expensive.

Also try and compare the remaps - ie - look for the characteristics of each remap (boost early, later or held thru rev range/serial port programming/options etc)

Remember, I had the AMD remap initially but for me, I now prefer the Revo map + the flexibility the SPS device brings.

Also I agree - latest Revo revision seems to be more responsive and smoother. Odd this really as they said there wouldn't be any change. I'll be doing some data logging this afternoon again.

Whatever you choose, enjoy.
M3 CSL - Silver Grey, a few options.

yup enjoy

Could one of you explain how you use the SPS3? i know you select the numbers and plug and go but how do you know which numbers to use and is their i real point in having all those variations?

For example SPS2 has anit-theft, standard and 2 programs? which 2?

SPS3 has high boost program can that be a chosen program on the SPS2???

Alot of user`s also say that the mpg is better on some programs? is this true in your cases?

Cheers lads!

I'd go with the SPS3 personally. You have high and low load/boost settings to choose from depending on mood or circumstances (plus anti theft). I run low boost 9 as it is smoother for me than the high boost settings.

You get a leaflet with it that explains the settings to some degree. I guess you try them and stay with the one you like (low boost 9 for me) as they are all alledgedly within safe tolerances. You cannot run high timing levels, for example 7/8 or 9 on supermarker 95 ron fuel. What should happen in that case is the ECU should <beep> your ignition, hence you will have less power. I run timing 6, which is Optimax settings, but Sita can run higher timing in his car with no corrections compared to mine.

VAG COM is a good tool to use to see how your car is behaving

I drove to Plymouth in stock mode, then in low boost 9 back and i returned about 1 MPG better in chipped mode and I was driving faster, so maybe it is true about MPG.

We had the update yesterday as we were 'early adopters' and it is very nice.

PS SPS2 doesnt allow you to choose 'high boost' - i think it sset to low boost 9, but it has 95 ron and optimax timing settings (although you just dial 95 RON or Optimax on the device)

low boost 9 when you are used to standard will blow your socks off

I`m going to start saving up!
But with all my running costs i.e. insurance, warranty, tax, service and tyres looking to be all within a few month of each other is looks like a very long time!

Si, Mitchell told me you should defenitely see a difference in the code, which as we know is true!

So whats the output figures?

Running Optimax and Optimax with Millers?
I know people dont think much of superchip but i think they do offer the best warranty! what are your views?

Sorry for all the questions!

MY personal view is that REVO is the best remap out there (technically) but I can guarantee if you had AMD or MTM put in your car you would love it.

Dont bother with Superchips Riz, they only really up the whole envelope (which works), but is not cutting edge.

Stick with a VAG specific tuner.

Re output figures, I will be rolling roaded end of May plus TT - Forum is in early June (various chips) - see from that, although I know my car is quicker than my previous remap, which itself was as quick as another tuners remap.

Riz,

There is allways an element of risk to any remap/tuning, maybe its not for you mate as you worry too much!

regarding bent rod - he had almost no oil in his car (by his own admission which would not of helped would it)- until other people report bent rods I wont hold Revo responsible (nor does Benjy btw - although Revo say he hasnt even contacted them about it)

PS your car would normally be back to stock, but the trial is only meant to last for 5 hours driving time - how did you get longer?

I wont hold Revo responsible
I dont its magic! All credit to them!

Yes i do worry alot...... im 22 and got a job which pays ok when ive done loads of overtime... so i can just afford running the S3 and everything...... but ok if spend my £800 odd pounds on the Revo gear i will love it no doubt but when it comes to the crunch and something does go wrong i dont think i will have sufficient funds to quicky get it fixed..... not to worry, ive had my fun and loved every bit of it.... except the hose/dv problem which scared the [censored] out of me!

Car still feels better than before though........ wonder why?
