Looking from front grill without fog lights

Post by audi_biturbo » Thu Oct 19, 2006 10:01 am

Hello

Looking for those grilles currently I've only found Sportec seeling them, but prize looks pretty expensive for what they are IMHO.. Approx 200€

Anyone knows a different place?

Thanks, Pascal

Sportec....

Post by quattrosteph » Thu Oct 19, 2006 5:06 pm

I am afraid only Sportec make them and they are....<beep>!!! :dung: I could not beleve how poor the quality was when i did open the box....On the car it does look ok but don't go too mad with the sponge or the jet wash because the crapy black paint come off easily!!
For the price i did expect something nicely made, wanted to send them back but i could't imagine myself spending hours to make some...

By the way very bad place to fit fog lights!!! right on the front of the intercoolers!!!!! More air = better cooling= a little bit more power!!! I guess :D

Arghhhhh thank you for the answer, even if it's the one I wanted to get!

This is bad about them, I've already this kind of feeling about the Sportec one, but will try continue my research.

Exactly bad place to fit fog lights, and I've never used them!! Bad, bad, bad..

I made my own with a Dremmel and a set of oem grills. The PhilTek grills have survived quite well.

I don't have any of the whole process, but here are the grills pre having a coat of black paint.

Basically you need a set of front grills, including the center one. Cut the fog light area out of the side ones (about 40% of the inner area), and replace with a bit out of the center one. Glue with your favourite high strength glue, and give it a quick blast with some matt black spray paint.

I had a spare set of grills knocking around that someone gave me when they replace their front bumper.

I'm looking to make some metal ones soon, so may investigate the cost of getting a quantity made up.

Perfect Philt, yes let me and probably other people know about the prize to make them. I'm on the list for it, and as usual the faster, the better is.. :)
