B6 S4 avant whats it worth please?

Post by audimartin » Fri Oct 13, 2006 3:13 pm

i'm in the reluctant process of trying to sell my RS4 avant, alomst new for financial reasons.

I have just been offered an S4, full details as follows:-

2003 53 S4 avant
Manual, 59k, dealer +1 owner
Full AMD stage 3
Black with silver leather
Sat nav, Bose etc

It seems to be very hard to get a 'real' price, due to the leg its done. However, there is one private sale in the trader, 26k on the clock at 21995, with a 2004 04 plater on ebay with a reserve under 22750.

I'm estimating, that with the given mileage, the 'retail' value (what i should give him against mine) has got to be c. 18k ?? Or is this too harsh?

Would an Audi dealer offer him about 17k for it in this case? opinions please, as i'm beginning to like the sound of this move.

AMD stage 3- would thid de-value this car?

Thanks in advance, martin

Things on eBay generally sell cheap, thats the idea of buying from there, but not selling :) As for the private one, I'm not sure judging price on asking price is such a good idea, SOLD price is the one you want! If you think a dealer would offer him less, why haven't you done the same to your price?

Just my 2p's worth ...

Dave

PS I have read it right, and he is upgrading to your RS4, you are down grading to his S4?

There are a few V8 S4s starting to appear in the trade, end of contract hire etc etc. Many dealers are keen to trade to get out of them.

Ebay is a false market place most stuff is run up by mates, best place is Auto trader as the cars are physical and are for sale at the price listed. Look at the prices there.

But keep an eye out for cars that keep appearing every week, ie un sold, are they too expensive or dodgy ...

Just got some info from a main stealer, he books it at about 17,650, mainly due to mileage(obvious) and what philip has mentioned about, 3 year end of contract etc.

It gives me a starting figure. Would the AMD work on it bring the value down as well as invalidate the warranty or would this lead to a premium?

I have just seen a 21k 2003 S4 in noggy blue with decent spec but no sat nav, you can have it for £29,995....but in fairness that is a dealer price....I would say £17k anything is well under price and I would slap any salesman that offered me that little....

I sold mine back in July

It was a May 2003 (03) Avant with Sat Nav Plus and some other extras that on list amounted to £4K when new. Very similar to this one you're looking at.

I was the second owner and it had 50K miles when I sold it to trade for £17.5K, needed 4 new tyres and he then sold it on at around £19.5K...

I wouldn't have thought AMD stage 3 would devalue it as the lump is as strong as an ox but may put some people off. It would also be out of warranty anyway, so no problems.

I would have thought now that 4 months have passed and the plate change has occured I would have thought trade price would be £17K ish and retail anything up to £20K. Somewhere in between and I think you would have a very fair price.

Was: 2005(55) 911 Carrera S - Arctic Silver

Mine was valued (lowly for duty purposes!) at 17.5k GBP just before I left the UK - 2003 May registered with 35k miles on it. No sat nav and not many extras on mine.
I'd say the AMD will put most people off as the standard car has plenty BHP for most people's liking, so you could use that and the high mileage to push the price down some.

I'd defnitely try for 19k, not sure 18k would get his attention...
