Vid of M6 doing 212 mph!!

Post by cpt_splash » Thu Oct 12, 2006 1:08 am

I know this not an Audi, but this video is mental. He can hardly keep it straight in 1st & 2nd. I like the way he changes into 7th at about 190!!

I'd be interested to know... A stage III RS6 like mine (will be) offers, on paper, bigger numbers. So why does an M6 OBLITERATE it beyond 100mph? Can't all be down to weight?
RS4 B5. Where it all started.
RS6+ Never to be replaced.
Replaced by: 997 Turbo. Didn't like.
Replaced by RS6. I like(d).
Land Rover Defender. Not as nippy.
Back with C6 RS6
And again C7 RS6

automatic transmission + 4wd means bigger losses in power between the flywheel and wheels. With a stage 3 giving approx 540bhp in the rs6 and this obviously re-mapped m6 [ must be to acheive 212 with no speed limiter ] probabaly giving about 550bhp it'll have quite a bit more power at the wheels than the rs6. The extra quarter of a tonne of weight doesn't help much with the acceleration either.
But in the real world [ not sure what that is....friends said I didn't live in it when I told them I was buying a rs6] the performance of the rs6 is going to be more exploitable with the better traction and greater mid-range torque and power.

What's all this about a stage 3 anyway Bob? I thought you'd decided to sell.

Just watched the vid. Not entirely convinced.Somehow, the speed at which he passed traffic, and the lines in the road, didn't look like the indicated speed.

Not selling now - buying a new house which is spiralling out of control cost wise so thought it was going to have to to pay for some of the refurb. But I told my wife I'd be so miserable without it I'd be a disaster to live with, new pad or not.

So it's staying for now. Thanks for the expalnation by the way.

My wife says I'm miserable to live with all the time so I'd probably be so bloody awful to live with without the car that she'd have to divorce me if I sold it.
