Mileage storage?
Does anyone know which control module the mileage is tored in?
I know it is stored in the instrument cluster but VAG cars also store a second mileage number within another control module.
Cheers in advance

RE: Mileage storage?
I pressed the get mileage button on VAG-COM the other day and it failed to give me a reading. Thats as far as my knowledge goes... Sorry

RE: Mileage storage?
Some cars (post 2002 usually) also store mileage or operating hours in the ECU. That's about it, only the instrument cluster stores the mileage in general for older models.

Cheers Mihnea, I am talking about current VAG group cars.
Is that the engine ecu? If so, what channel should I look at?

RE: Mileage storage?
Simon, there is no end-user way of checking the mileage unfortunately and AFAIK.

RE: Mileage storage?
Cheers Minhea, we are working on some software code to record miles driven with a DTC, so that the manufacturer can argue against warranty claims.
If you come accross a way of reading it and which ecu it is stored in maybe you could pm me if you wanted to keep it off the forum.
Warning to all new VAG car owners, they are getting very good at knowing how you treat your cars!!!!!
