Window Tinting

Post by Doug_S2 » Thu Sep 28, 2006 5:24 pm

What percentage of a tint do people go for? I'm getitng my S4 saloon tinted but do not want the pimp look, just a darker OE look. 50% is what I have been quoted on.

I would ask for pictures but not sure they show what a car would look like anyway.

Doing the front side windows? I wouldn't. http://www.pentagonglasstech.com/news_legal_update.asp

Just doing the rear and rear sides looks ok on some cars, but not on others IMO.

Doing all round - but a light tint so it is like a factory option. I don't like the pimp look!

Hi doug my previous s4 and my current rs both have tints i went 4 50% on the front 2 70% on the rear 2 and limo black on the other3 as there avants it looks good as the % change from front to rear blends in nice , but if your havin it done make sure u have driver n passanger sides done otherwise it looks half arsed + car colour and intrerior makes a difference in overall darkness e.g cream leather makes the tints look lighter and black makes it look darker!! if the tints are done right the car will look bang on i paid 50quid a window and it took a whole day as they had my windows out ive got a few pics of mine if you wanna have a look to get a idea!!!

post the pics or email to me please - doug@mrctuning.com

It will be the same all round - been told the rear window on a saloon is a pita to do so they remove the rear parcel shelf to do it right. The same company did a show car that won its class at edition38 so they should be good.

had 35% alround on mine 2 years ago looks pretty good, darker available was 5% 20% and these looked pimp. above 35% looked good now in hind sight i probably would have done 50% back and +70% (if available) to the front. i will be removing the front tints and having low grade on there partly to stop smash n grab and partly because it will look better than nothing. not sure how it will look but since originally getting the tints i've grown on the idea of having slightly lighter up front.
