Little red 'airbag' light came on last night..

Post by cidered » Mon May 12, 2003 1:09 pm

... and won't go away.

Anyone had this before? And more importantly - how much is it going to cost me!?

Also - can anyone tell me roughly how much a new windscreen is likely to cost, or recommend me somebody who'll do a perfect job but not charge dealer prices?

Thanks,

In my case the fault was just the connector under the seat coming adrift, cheap fix.

If you have VAG - COM then this will tell you whare the fauilt lies. If not then it is worth getting the VAG COM OBII connector and cable and downloading the free software from the net.

I had the same problem with the airbag warning a couple of months ago - turned out that it was a leaking washer bottle feed which was causing a short, so it may only be minor.

There is a thread on windscreens here - have a look and perhaps yu questions will be answered.

At the end of last year I too had the red airbag light on my dashboard - It too would not go away. However when my car went in to get its mannifolds replaced (a long story, do not ask!), the engine was taken out. When I picked up the car the light was no longer present.....However after New Year when I was in France, the light again came on. The car had undergone a service in December before I went a way and at that time no fault was picked up. When I got back to Scotland in February I took it to Audi, who checked it out. It was found that the was a fault in the driver airbag, and the whole airbag had to be replaced!!! Thank god for waranties!!

I had the same problem as Prawn. You should try first to identify the faulty sensor/bag. If it is a seat bag clean the connector under the respective seat then reset the error code as Joshie described. VAG COM

Her indoors had this on her quattro T Sport, just out of warranty and it cost £70. Turned out that it was just the connector that needed cleaning. She was pleased , I took it to the dealer for her ..... and paid
