What do points make?

Post by bobjebb » Wed Sep 20, 2006 1:25 pm

Another three for the missus. That's nine and she thinks she's been done again yesterday. Whoopee do. And she bangs on at me for driving too fast.

Anyway, I want to wriggle out of this if I can. I heard somewhere that the correspondence has to arrive within 10 days of the alleged offence. Is this the case because it didn't. 11 actually. Or is that bollooooks?

Here is a picture of us together, taken recently:

No idea about the dates Bob but have a look at Pepipoo.com and read the info re PACE, you will find it intersting and I hope useful.

She should stick to hitting old ladies over the head or any kind of violence really as the penalties seem much less severe!

Good luck. MartynC

Yep saw that thanks, she's screwed then. Which will make a change.

The PACE thing seems tempting but I guarantee we'll be the first ever known home visit, they'll wire her up to a polygraph and she'll crumble. We'll be arrested and sent down.

So I think I'll leave it and buy her a Snooper.

Or talk to Mr Freeman & CO, at 9 points, it may well be worth an investment of the price of a couple of Snoopers to shoot the thing down.........http://www.keepondriving.co.uk/

Hi Bob,

Would strongly suggest Nick Freeman at 9 points already anotehr 3 could mean a ban for a few months etc. There are so many technical areas where the old bill can be wrong and may make the difference between a licence and no licence (and then the insurance costs once she gets it back).

I always think it worthwhile remembering a sobering statistic...70% of people get caught speeding in 30's and 40's..so lessen the odds and stick to 30's and 40's. You've only got a 30% chance of being nicked outside of those speed ranges.

Quite right. All my points have been in 30's. Makes sense they watch less on the open road rather than urban. Motorway speeding must be coming up higher these days though

Make that 12. Three more this morning. Again allegedly over the limit in a 30. (by some margin according to the NIP)

Has anyone used Mr Freeman? What's his strike rate?

His success in the Wilts Hants area is high, they have made soooooo many mistakes it is actually criminal........ I think his strike rate is in the high 90's, he was able to get a friend of mine of a failing to stop for police and excessive speed in about two minutes, cost, £1100.00

You could always pay some1 to take her points by claiming she wasnt driving !thats if she needs her linence to work ect ! i knew a taxi driver that 15 points and was still workin as he said if he got banned he would lose his house etc

Ouch bob, thats gotta hurt. My sincerest condolences to your wifes licence. I hope you get sorted OK.

@derdle... I never knew that stat... most of my mileage is on major roads, and the road angel keeps my speed down in the slower areas. As a rule I do not speed in built up areas, but I must admit that the road angel has saved my bacon a few times, particularly when there are different speed limits on the same stretch of road and therefore the cameras set a different speeds. The A34... about 6 cameras all set at 60mph except for 1 camera set at 50mph; 3 people at my work alone caught out by that cunning bugger! Enough to make an ordinary law-abiding member of the public want to burn the camera down with a car tyre and a can of fuel.

Oh tut tut.
That is actually a more severe criminal offence - perverting the course of justice? Doesn't that attract some time at one of Her Majestey's -3 star hostelries?

As a first step you should ask for the photograph...two reasons...(1) to make sure it is actually your car and that someone isn't driving around with your number plate on their car and (2) to make sure it is actually your wife driving the car and not your uncle from South Africa.

Actually what the hell let's make it a round 15...

The latest NIP is red dotted. 52 in a 30. Court summons. 6 points minimum for that one alone I expect.
