REMOVING THE FRONT DOOR CARDS.

CAN ANY ONE TELL ME HOW TO REMOVE THE FRONT DOOR CARDS ON 1998 AUDI S4. NEED TO UPGRADE THE FRONT SPEAKERS WITH FOCALS , BUT JUST CAN'T SEE HOW THE COME OFF.

There are usually a couple of screws, check door handle and door pockets. You will need a 'trim puller', if you don't use one you risk damaging the clips which hold the card in place. I would recommend that you pop down to your local ICE center and have them do it for you. Most ICE centers will fit virtually foc, if you buy the kit from them.

There are 2No small posi drive screws at high level each side, about wing mirror hieght

You then need to undo one screw inside the door pull which releases the piece of plastic hiding another larger screw

Once undone lift the card up about 15- 20mm and it lifts away

You need to mind the locking knob and the electric window switches just unplug

What focals are you putting in?

I had big problems when doing mine - utopia's -

The tweeter is two big for the tweeter mount location, this had to be altered. The mid's have a problem with both the basket and the magnet, the basket does not fit to the adapter brakets without modifying them and the magnets caught on the windows as they wound down.

to resolve this took serious modification to the door card and adpater brackets (and I had to cut some metal from the door!!
