The performance figures for the one on s-cars is the road-going production version of the S1.

Take a quattro to www.dialynx.co.uk and they will make you one mate. Look under "sport quattro conversions".

How come the engine was used by Volvo? Did Audi have some relationship with Volvo in the past? Volvo is owned by Ford isn't it?

This was news to me. I knew that Volvo used Audi's diesel 2.5 liter TDI for some time, current D5 is their own. The petrol engines are their own, I believe.

A bit surprised if the engines are related, since Volvo has transverse engine, and RS2 et al longitudinal. Also Volvo's T4/T5/T6 engines are the same family I've read, only the number of cylinders differs (distance between piston the same, piston sizes etc similar). So in that sense all T-volvo engines would relate to Audi...doubt it because RS2 base engine is from 80's.

You'll make me cry again....

Saw Doug and the car on Sunday at Well Lane, still sounds excellent .

To me, this is when it looked it's best.

Yes Phill - it did look the danglies - I have to say though that it will get a lot of TLC soon I have been busy moving house since I bought it so it has been neglected. And all the pictures of the car with those AZEV wheels don't do it justice - in the flesh they looked aweome - just that they bent far too easily(probably my driving).

PS - Got an RS2 exhaust manifold - more power coming soon!

S1 had a special conversion(original) for one of the rally steps. Called Pikes peak. It's then when they used new body kit(large fenders ,strange front spoiler and huge back spoiler). So the car was called S1 Pikes Peak.
The Car had 620HP and 2.7sec acceleration 0-62m.

The engine consist of :
Huge s1 intercooler , 2.1litre engine(with x1.4 turbo it gave 2999ccm so the car was still in 2-3litre group).
Huge special KKK 27 turbo.
Radiators and Oil lines in the back of the car.
Special Intake manifold,Exhaust manifold.
Eated aprox 50l/100km.

Still the best/fastest car produced by Audi Quattro devision.

Hey, I was just browsing this section of the forum and must give thanx to the excellent info given here. I thought my oxygen sensor was starting to give up on me and thought it was running rich, now I think I understand why I don't get much milieage on the freeway in my S2 here in Holland (hey who needs autobahns)!

Since today I'm doing a slow freeway test (120-140kph) to see what the max. milieage is I can get driving like a normal human being. Drove 120km today and the fuel guage is still reading about 56 liters, so I used about 1 liter every 8,5 km, that isn't so bad now is it? I did put the pedal to the medal for just a short period of time, hell I just couldn't keep it from happening, I don't know why
