If RS6 Hybrid turbos will give you 550bhp ish for a few grand, will it really cost say a further 17k for 50bhp?

RS7 FL best car I've owned. No faith in turbo oil screen (turbos failing) or sticking oil scraper ring causing missfires.
F10 M5 LCI still no rear grip lol
S7 black Edition Too big and heavy
S3 8V FL DSG 310ps, road noise is a joke
RS3 8P Rubbish
C7 RS6 Fantastic car but missed playing
GTR R35 800bhp, too extreme, crazy fast though
911 Turbo Remapped. Hated it
F10 M5, awesome but no rear grip
RS6 V10 700BHP crazy
Porsche Cayenne Turbo S 600bhp

I think so. Otherwise you could keep adding a few grand and have 1,000bhp in no time at all!

The standard engine block must reach its maximum capability to £ ratio at some point, sounds like 550bhp, then it gets silly!

I think Mihnea wrote somewhere the S4 was good for 550bhp in standard trim i.e pistons, rods, crank. block etc and as the RS4 is beefed up any way it may just be the RS6 hybrid turbos that limit the bhp to 550bhp on the RS4. Really need Mihnea to add a few words of wisdom here.

To get 600 bhp, you are into engine internals, head and port mods, manifolds and induction system........ hence the £17K
Quite a few have tried 550 and spent the sort of money already mentioned by the time they got the car to run reliably, talk to Johnroberts and RS4john, both of whom were running near and above these sort of figures.

Didnt they only get to just above 500Bhp? AFAIK they didnt have internals done nor porting of heads?

Think Noggy babe had internals done.

I think they got to around the 520 mark....Pretty sure some head work was involved.

Noggy had ceramic coated pistons and all sorts....

If you ask me you are just chasing your tail though....what's the point ?

I dont think the 2.7t will ever give really big power, not with KKK turbos at least.

Get a straight six and slap a big turbo on it. My M5 will be pushing 750-800 bhp when I am done with it.

@DaveP - fit a big turbo on your CSL - now that would be fun :biggrin3:

did MTM not get a green RS4 to around 580 with bigger turbos and minimal extra work?

I read they achieved 602PS at reported 800rpm  .... http://www.qst.uk.com/article.asp?car=2

However I know how much the 510PS kit is, so to go to 600PS via the MTM route would bankrupt me!

On the road? Regular fuel? How much? Anyone done that before, who's doing the work?

power

Post by Mik » Thu Aug 31, 2006 10:42 pm

This would be on race fuel. But on the road yes - although mostly intended for racing. Once its mapped properly it will drive quite sensibly with around 700bhp on normal fuel and decent boost. Its no small project with custom manifold, custom intake, major head work etc. but like the Skyline's RB26, this straight six engine seems most suitable for tuning even with hardly any internal work. There are several cars with around 1000Bhp just like there are plenty of Skylines around pushing that kind of power.

I really wanted a Skyline, they are fun to drive, but I cant get on with the plastic-like, nasty feel those cars have. So went for a straight six BMW instead having seen a few run 10sec quartermile times.

All good fun...now I have hijacked this thread which wasnt my intention.
