B7 RS4 Reliability

Post by PHB7RS4 » Tue Jul 25, 2006 2:11 pm

So far my B7 RS4 has been nothing but a nightmare, it came with a defective master clutch cylinder right out of GERMANY, up on the lift before I can even drive it once. Now after 1600 miles is back on the lift due to a busted CV boot, I will be sure to tell my cousin from Chicago to post his experience (920 miles leaking oil out of head gasket)

ENJOY!!!

Sory to hear of the problems you and your cousin are having, have to say it seems to be a different story this side of the pond.

looks like they shipped all the duff ones your way! (that was merely in jest before you get mad).

None taken, I am very aware that here in the US we do not get the true European engineering due to government laws. No start button, no brushed steel steering wheel, no Recaro bucket seats, no Sport button on steering wheel, etc, etc....

Lucky you. It's the most pointless part of the RS4.

we dont get a brushed aluminium steering wheel here.

Its plastic painted in aluminium effect and feels very cheap.

I prefer full leather wheel to the cheap plastic one audi have put on the european rs4's.

Also only hand brake and gear stick are aluminium.

Oh and the start button. Press. BRRRMMMMM!

I am glad we don't get that crap here. No offense. But a start button that requires you to put a key in the slot is ridiculously stupid. And the seats? Notice how many Euros are wishing they ordered our Recaros?

And don't the Euro RS4s have manual rear windows? No power windows in the back right?

Funny, we had none of these problems with the good old B5................and only 400 RHD to boot.

You obviously weren't about in the early original days of the B5 ownership Dace.....
The B5 had more problems than enough, apart from the wheels, gearbox and clutch problems, wind noise, rattling seats, collapsing centre armrests, a few engine failures and blown turbos.....

Ah - I've got one of the collapsing centre armrests - I didn't realise it was a known issue. It's not too bad, but as soon as you put any real pressure on it, it gives way!
