What's my car worth?

Post by david7m » Tue Aug 01, 2006 9:45 am

I'm seriously thinking of selling and getting a diesel :(

But, what's it worth?

2001 S3
Absolute Red
Rolled onto 59k Sunday
FASH
8k till AVS
Switchable APR software between 210/257 and 270bhp
Black leather, no burns or tears
Immaculate condition
None smoker

I've prob missed lots from the spec, please ask if you think it may alter the value and I can then confirm.

Any ideas?

Cheers.

I think you would do well to get that Dave.

Absolute red is a non pearl paint and unless you have missed off some extras you are talking about a completely standard spec car? Extras do help the price a bit.

For example I have a owned from new my 02 S3 (48k miles) with basically every available factory extra except sat nav tv and I would pitch it at the same price you are talking for yours, about 12-13k max in unmodified trim

I got that price from looking on the Autotrader website! But, as I've said before, asking price and cash in the bank are two different things .....

I posted this a few weeks ago. Will be hard to quantify until they are released, and new S3 will be sold secondhand at premiums for some time. Not sure how that will affect the price of the current model.

33k
silver leather
cruise
heated seats
sunroof
arm rest
bose
6 cd
rear parking aid

Jedi, just noticed your signature and spec of your new purchase are not the same  Have you some pics of your new car?

I think its down to the old problem of me wanting top price for mine, but if I was buying, I would want a bargain like Jedi. Plus, some options are more desireable than others, ie pearl paint and low mileage, where as some options are not as desireable/practical, ie silver seats.

Not sure if it is for sale anyway, as i'm trying to calculate if the cost of change, reduced fun and cash in the bank outweigh what I will save in petrol. Judging by the prices you are suggesting, it won't be for sale......

Suppose it is a buyers market....

I'm not sure to be honest, got the car when two years old. It has a stereo one up from base, not Bose, centre arm rest.

Dunc, could you add a pole with options that I can tick off, or list them and I can say yes or no?

Its chipped by APR, but I put that in the top bit.

I picked up the grey one last week though.

I dont think my low price had anything to do with bad options (ie silver leather like you suggested)... infact i think either full black or silver leather is worth a slightly higher price that half leather with the discusting coloured inserts!

I actually paid more than i was planing on spending because it was so highly spec'd and had very low miles.

few pics.
