brake pads and disc`s?

Post by Riz_RS4 » Mon May 05, 2003 8:56 pm

Does the S3 have brake pad wear indicators? and also whats the average life on pads?

Just alittle concerned about mine as the disc`s seem to be more shiny in the middle.....

Picture to follow in about 2mins!

Brakes still squeek and respond as normal.

Yes it does have indicators, on the left side. I did 47k on my standard discs/pads prior to CC and then after that they were pretty fecked !

Have heard of people changing their pads as early as 15k, suppose I must have a habbit of braking alot earlier !

Now with the porkers on its a different ball game entirely, hence the £1500 price tag

Ive just passed 14500miles and everything seems to be all ok except the looks of the disc`s...... they still work so maybe nothing to worry about..... so when the indicator comes on is this before they wreck the disc`s? because i dont want to keep going and to find out that the disc`s have been damaged too

The pad sensor is just a wire that is in a circuit, once this is broken you'll get an error on the DIS. Not a clue about the discs, thought that they usually got ripples effect when they are buggered ?? ie not a smooth surface.
