Sportec brakes 380mm :P

Post by Renarl » Mon Jul 31, 2006 4:27 pm

Directly from http://www.sportec.ch :

High performance brake system
Article Nr. 10 34 00 365
For the front axle, perforated brake discs with 380mm diameter and 4 piston brake calipers, from 18"-wheels onwards available with CH-Homologation

Sportec charges around 5000 EUR for this, i am willing to let them go for 2000 EUR. They are a LOT lighter than stock RS4 brakes.
They are meant for RS4 (B5,B6) and RS6 but with not too much trouble should be easily fitted to S4 (B5) aswell.

Actually these were on my friends B5 RS4 and i just bought these from him. He had them on original RS4 18 inch wheels.
However i own an S4 and these can be modded to fit with not much trouble, 18 inch will be minimum.
I am not selling these because of some problem, i just started thinking do i really need those :D
And for the winter i would like to use smaller diameter wheel. The stopping power however is absolutely BREATHTAKING on these babies, the RS4 now has stock brakes and they cannot touch the Sportecs at all :)
Here is the pic of them on the RS4 they cam off from:

How old / how many km's have the discs and pads done? Do you have the actual weight for the discs / calipers? Does it require a mounting bracket for the caliper? Thanks, sorry for all the questions!

My Sportec's weigh about 30kilos a side complete. The 996 caliper requires a caliper mounting bracket that will be supplied by Sportec to suit each application (Alloy).
Just can't get the smile off my face......

Thanks for this - have you tried any of the other popular brake upgrades for the RS4 i.e. movit, AP, RS6 to compare them with the Sportec - the calipers look like porsche monoblock - I'm wondering how Sportec can justify their prices?

Hi Nige,

Sorry, I have the kit on a TT....... and haven't had the chance the compare.
The caliper is a Porsche 996 mono-block as you guessed (with 996 part number!). I think the Sportec and Mov'it prices are much the same are they not??

nige,

This kit is exactly the same as the movit 4pot kit with 380mm discs, they are both rebadged brembo items. The only part which is bespoke to both of them are the bells.

iirc sportec ask for quite a bit more money than what movit do for the same kit (shiny silver paint and all that).

IMHO this is by far the best and most tested set-up for an RS4, forget the movit 6 pots!!

depending on disc/pad condition, I would pay anywhere from £800 - £1200 for the fronts alone.
Too much is bad.
Plenty is better.

I was on a long vacation, so the brakes are still available. Come on people these breaks are HUGE and well worth the cost. Shipping to UK will be 40£. I'm sure we can work something out since i am not going to use them and they are just sitting in the corner waiting for their new owner...
You know you want them :)
