Here's one for you - P1604/18048
Here's one for you - P1604/18048
Here's the full DTC :
18048 - Internal Control Module: EEPROM Error
P1640 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
It's not documented on the Ross-Tech website.
It doesn't say which EEPROM that's at fault - or is there just the one, ie in the ECU itself?
Anyone had this before or know what the problem might be?
Help appreciated, as always.

RE: Here
it happens occasionally, I've seen it on a few standard cars too. Clear it and don't bother

@Morpheous: an "EEPROM error" as opposed to "EPROM error" does not mean that there is a checksum error in an ECU. I have seen this code on a few stock cars, erased it and never came back. The cars were 100% stock and had always been, they had never been flashed back to stock.
When you get "EPROM Error", you generally can't erase the fault code and that means a checksum error, which generally is due to the car being tuned.
Just my 0.02,
Mihnea

I had the same a few days back and mentioned it to Doug on wednesday when my laptop finally booted up for me to show him the code and he'd never seen it before.
I think dummi might be on the right lines as mine appeared after I had the aibox out to replace the filter and disturbed the wiring in the process.
My tuppence worth as well

And I am telling you from experience that this fault code can occur on cars that have never been chipped and it won't be a defective ECU. The code can occur after for instance disconnecting the battery whilst the ECU is still in its "afterrun" mode, where it writes different adaptation values to the EEPROM (not the same as the main memory which is the EPROM). If the car starts, the code clears and doesn't come back, don't bother, period.
End of story, you're the best, I won't reply anymore to posts where you know better than anyone else.
