Re: RE: Education
My facelift just has an S4 badge to the left of the number plate. If it wasn't for the scratch next to it I would probably leave it fittedbuzzard wrote:so on a 99 face lift

I quite agree, my vote was for badge.QuantumJohn wrote:The badge is discrete enough.
Why especially the early ones? Were they badged differently or something? I didn't think the cars differed much externally?QuantumJohn wrote:The badge is discrete enough, especially the early ones, that only the educated car driver would know what it was anyway.
The only thing I don't like is cars that have S4 plastered on the headrests (presuming the ones I have seen are original) and I even think the RECARO lettering on the, well Recaros, is abit OTT (won't stop me upgrading though). Going slightly off topic - were there non Recaro fully electric seats?

Good thread. I have kind of debagded, I have a small B6 S4 badge on the front passenger door (above the bump strip) and a 1.9tdi badge on the boot. I was parked next to a mates new 325i SE Coupe in a car park, both cars had been reversed in so no badges showing and we went to lunch, with 6 or 7 guys whom I knew off but did not know well. As we came back we walked past both cars and funnily enough, both of us had to go into the cars for something, the majority decision was made by the guys waiting (who don't know my car at all), that the the 325 would whip my ass as "it was sporty" and mine was "an A4". One guy even said, "I bet you wish you had that powerplant under your bonnet"....
The wry smile on my face was about 12inches long....I didn't have the heart to say anything.

Meant to add...........
Just been to France with a mate and his 320d and we were pulled for speeding, it turned out the Police did not have evidence but it "looked like we were going too fast"....cruise set for 99 to be exact..! Anyway, they pulled us in and both cars parked side by side, the 320d to the left of mine so my S4 badge was obscured. The guy I was with spoke a little french but did not let on to the Police. They made a few calls and one officer went to the back of the cars to take a note of the numbers, my mate heard the police discussing later and in his patchy french he is sure they said words to the effect of "they both drive diesels, how fast can they go anyway?"...
