Scratches and glass

Dispite almost using a new seperate sponge for my glass each time I wash my car, it seems to get more and more scratched Admittedly, they are tiny, but I can see them ...

They seem worse when the car is clean and the sun shines on them.

Any ideas how to remove them?

I have used glass polish on a previous car, but it didn't really do anything except fill the pitting from minor stone chips full of polish, which then took me a while to get out. Perhaps I didn't apply it correctly but elbow grease was certainly not enough, it may have been good with a mains polisher but I was paranoid that I'd screw it up and get swirl marks that would be even more noticeable than the original minor marks.

I used to valet cars in a long distant former life and we used to use liquid Glass Polish and wire wool. Glass is pretty tough and the slight abrasion of the wool removed all sorts of imperfections and tar etc. Don't rub too hard though or you could get swirl marks. Good luck!!

I've been told to use a clay bar, not sure if that helps small scratches though!? I've got a problem with a couple of tiny barely noticeable stone chips that have glass standing proud of the screen, after 10 month or so it wears a groove in the wipers, really annoying!??

A clay bar will only take the grime out of all the crevices which is good to use prior to polishing.

Some people use glass polish or a light compound akin to Farecla G10 with an orbital polisher to get the swirls out, might be worth asking your local windscreen fitter for advice.

They make glass polishing kits for DIY use (with an electric drill or similar) which should ideal for removing minor scratch marks. A word of caution though, I've heard of one user who overdid the polishing and created a "lens" effect in the screen!
