ABS WARNING LIGHT

Hi guys it will be interesting to see if Lee is able to fix this.

Just had my ABS ecu, with the standard ABS and brake (!) warning fault, repaired by BBA Reman.

Normally they charge £499 for an exchange unit, but they will now repair your own unit for £220 (Another guy on Ebay will also repair your own unit for £220 and they are matching his price. Someone on here has used him too with good results).

I posted them my unit on Tuesday and received it back on Friday. Before they took any money off me they tested the unit and confirmed that they could repair it. I went with BBA because they have been around for a while and seem to have a good name in the trade. They also offer a 2 year guarantee.

My car has now passed its MOT (most pressing reason for the repair) and I can now see how hot it is outside rather than just the the brake warning exclamation. With the ecu removed the ABS won't work of course, so you need to be careful driving without it (Of course it may not have been working anyway!).

Hi Chaps! well i am feeling a little chuffed with myself, as i today took off the ABS ECU and opened it up and followed the link that springfield posted,was a bit nervy as i didnt want to stuff it up totally but had a go! and i am glad to inform you that it seems to have been a sucess as i have now done approx 100 miles with no bleeps or abs lights coming on and cant say enough how pleased i am,many thanks to springfield for the link also!
as this is a common problem i would say to all with this fault to have a go! but only if you are an experianced solderer or know someone that is,if not then you can contact me by PM.

well done that man. another reason for the ABS light coming on is a faulty MAF as we discovered this week although it was accompanied by the ESP warning light.

Have also done mine with success as well. As they are aluminium wire bonds it is best to use a dedicated ally solder and flux kit. Standard lead/tin is for steel wire and does not work as well.
I also tried using silver loaded epoxy but this broke down after about 2-3weeks and the probelm came back. All good now.
