MAF & LAMDA SENSORS

Post by BlackS3 » Mon Jul 24, 2006 10:42 pm

It's official!!! My engine melted because the MAF sensor was giving spurious readings and the lamda (02) sensor had failed. This meant the ECU didn't have a clue what was going on in the engine so ran a lean mix that caused the overheating to eventual failure starting with a piston ring.

So I'm thinking if you haven't recently or ever.... you should get your MAF readings checked and your lamda sensor.

It's a small price to pay compared with a rebuild.

MAF sensor is 75 plus vat and the lamda 95 plus vat so not a major expense really.

Even with both sensors failing and checking with my VAG-com software the car showed no faults prior to meltdown or after!!!!!!!

Also Audi had it twice and didn't check these when investigating prior to meltdown.......

so if you could prove that it was a faulty sensor would "audi"pay for the rebuild
