Tiptronic Gear changes

Post by AndyS » Fri Jul 21, 2006 6:28 pm

Hi

I am a new member and have owned an RS6 for the last 18 months.

The only thing I dislike are the speed restrictions in the paddle manual mode on the gearbox for changes.

I can not select 3rd until 20mph, 4th until 30mph and 5th until 40mph and the auto down changes happen at the same speeds.

So if you are driving around town at 38mph the engine is doing 2000 rpm in 4th.

Are all RS6s the same or is there a problem with my box or ECU.

I read that the gearbox was supposed to learn your style and reprogramme the gear changes accordingly but nothing seems to change it.

Ideally I would like manual to mean manual. Does anybody know where I could get the gearbox ECU reprogrammed.

Great Forum.

Thanks

Andy

I've made a note and I'll see if mine is the same. ECU boffins:
The usual list of acronyms... ABT, AMD, APS, DMS, MRC, QST oh and Oettinger and West.
RS4 B5. Where it all started.
RS6+ Never to be replaced.
Replaced by: 997 Turbo. Didn't like.
Replaced by RS6. I like(d).
Land Rover Defender. Not as nippy.
Back with C6 RS6
And again C7 RS6

Mihnea at MRC told me that he would be able to alter the change position, so that it would hold the gear lower in the rev range, but in the end i didn't bother as i got used to the way it is and wasn't sure if there would be any nock on effect if it was messed around with.
