what turbos?

Post by Renarl » Sun Jul 16, 2006 7:08 pm

K04 turbos with 42,5mm compressor wheel. Stock K04 is supposed to be 40,5mm if i am correct?
What could be the potential of these turbos, 500+ HP with the right setup?
If yes, then what compressor wheel is it. Anyone know the RS6 compressor wheel size?

Larger of the wheels is ?????....RS6 wheel looks to be much bigger than a 2 mm increase, assuming K04 wheel is 40.5 mm of course.

I just bought a pair, one turbo has a small chip on a compressor wheel though. Thought if i cannot find anything to replace the damaged compressor wheel with, i might aswell use the turbos to build a pair of hybrids.
Anyway, this is the turbo MTM uses in their 476HP and 490HP setupf for the RS4.
The regular RS4 compressor wheel should be 40,5, this turbo has a 42,5mm version. I was asking to find out what turbo does this 42,5 mm wheel come from.

One more Q for you KayGee, is it worth to buy an RS4 Y-pipe? I could get one use for 360 USD. Will it help? I am getting the RS4 heads and intake mani also. Since i am aiming for 500+HP i am curious will the RS4 Y-pipe have any actual difference.

Yeah, i have already got a quote from vast performance for injectors, big MAF and open element. I was just curious about the y-pipe itself.
I am also wondering how easy it would be to use a NA intake manifold.
I did not find any detailed info on it though. I am tempted to try with a NA mani, but i am guessing it will be much easier to use a RS4 one instead and have it ported and polished.

Anyone, any clue on the turbos i just bought? :)

I heard the MTM turbos use K24 wheels. I'd send them Buehn engineering for a rebuild. RS4 IM is good for 600Bhp so would bother with port and a polish. You can use S4 Y pipe with RS4 MAF and accordian. As Woody says RS4 stuff is larger so at least theoretically better.

You'll need RS4 fuel rail and TB and TBB pipes and metal RS4 boost pipes as well to go with heads and IM.Where are you located?

i don't know if the NA manifold would work it has a different inlet and may not be bigger?

the k24 wheels are discussed on other threads they offer high boost but questionable high housing pressures high up the rev range.. rs6 hybrids flow more top end

RS6/RS4 hybrids seem good....car in with MRC now having RS4 downpipes fitted, then we will see what these turbo's can do (assuming they fix the no timing issue)...
