And why on earth are you getting a Mac Powerbook and then putting Vista on it !!!!!!!!!!

If you want a Mac use OS X....if you want Vista get a Vaio
I have a MacBook through work, it's a nice piece of kit. You need to put some version of Windoze on there so you can run VAG-COM :D, doesn't look likely they will do a version for OS X.

Rich.

*cough*

Of course - yes! That is why I loaded Vista :P

Seriously though - certainly will be using it for Vag-com when I eventually get one, so Windows is essential :D

I cant wait to see what the imola looks like with a set of 19" CH's... I hope she looks truely sexy! The standard brake disk may look a little lost behind the wheel though!

Nice - 19's All Day long :D

As for Mac OS... you load up Mac OS Boot Camp and this asks you how you want to split the partition. You then set the size of your MS partition (Vista = MINIMUM 12GB) - it takes this from your MacOS partition and off you go... restart the PC with your installer disk in the drive and off you go!

When you boot up you can select what OS you want to boot to. This only works on Intel Macs though.

One other thing to note - you can see your MS partition in OSX but not the other way around.

cheers for that, i wasnt sure whetehr the MAC hardware wouldnt playball with windows. Not touched mac kit at all. The only reason i brought up VMware is that if you had a VMware session running on a MAC pc you could run VAGCOM off that and then no need for dual boot/split partition.

You can run Virtual PC or Guest PC on a Non-Intel Mac. But the performance is not great and can cause problems with VAG-COM I believe.

yet another flawed idea!back to the drawing board.... :D

I always though it wouldnt be that difficult to get a car PC wired in with a touchscreen monitor upfront and splice into the cabling for the existing diagnostics port. That way you could have your music, sat nav and VAGcom all on one screen at the front. Plus if you can splice into the RCAs for the bose amp if you have (one) you can keep your exisiting bose setup. Dont know wheterh it would work or not but i just thought bout it the other night.

Well, the short shifter and wipers are fitted. I should get my spacers today for the wheels then most work should be done. Then I need to plan an MRC trip for a few extra goodies :)

Pics should be up tomorrow - assuming the spacers FINALLY arrive today.
