Dialynx and MRC do good work. The car ran faultlessly (it will probably break not I said that :( ). I'm very pleased :)

You can read all about it in the forum (see url above).

Many thanks to Craig and co, it's a great event, lots of nice cars, a good atmosphere and the opportunity to go as fast as you can :)

Good effort! You beat some tasty machinery.

Did you get the result you were after? 174 sounds pretty quick!

174MPH WOW!!

I have some appreciation of how fast that is and how much more power the big boys have to only achieve a little more. I was hoping to see someone I know (Maff) on the list that normally atttends - black DMS modified CL65. I have been in that car and it's a beast but still between you and the RUF Porsche.

So you say stage 3 - what's that MRC custom map, gutted cats and miltek? Anything else? K04s??? What BHP is your car?

174 is mighty impressive. I actually got an invite from Maff to attend, but thought my lowly custom remap would leave me embarressed - maybe not too much - I might have to stump up the cash next time!

I have been down the straight at Bruntingthorpe before, but my old C230K Merc didn't have enough puff to get up to more than 130 ish in the space

What do you think a stock car with an MRC custom map would do? 165mph?

David - 174 is quick, but I'll be honest, I'd have thought you'd be going quicker, more like 184??? Youa re running approx 450BHP? Was the weather very hot?

Thanks for the kind comments.

I am pleased with those figures, I thought the car should do 170 but I told people I'd be happy with 150 before I went, as you do.

Stage 3 is K04 turbos, uprated pipework, rs4 intercoolers, uprated fuelling. I have a full milltek with 100cell cats as well. My map is 'only' 1.4 bar though, lower than most. Not sure on power but 400-420bhp I expect.

At Bruntingthorpe you drive down the perimeter road then a right hand bend onto the runway at about 70 mph (not sure exactly, didn't look), then accelerate up the runway (uphill for 1 mile + then it levels out). You have 1.6 miles or so to the speed traps, so 174 is pretty fast for an old Audi 'A4'.

I imagine it will do 185, perhaps more on a 3 mile run, it was still accelerating, the speedo was stuck off the end though

It was hot too, 35c ish, baking actually :)

We had to do a standing start at the bottom of the straight when I went, with the run up around the last bend it's a plenty distance.

Well done.

David, thanks very much for the run in the passenger seat last Sunday.

As I said at the time, hugely impressive...specially the way the car span up and then afterwards sat there idling with all guages indicating the car had just been driven round the block :)

Guys, I have been to most Vmax days since the beginning, with respect t higher speeds than 174.......

It was a very warm day and there was hardly any head/ tail wind....
the Turbo pork ran were between 5-10mph slower than we have previously seen.

Bhp is one thing, but after a dozen such days, we have learnt a lot about conditions and aerodynamics affecting the cars Vmax.

David, I am seriously considering modding my car after experiencing your car, I have recently bought a proper RS which is occupying my car leisure time right now...Thanks again :)
