RS4 exhaust on S4

Post by CliveH » Mon Jun 26, 2006 12:25 pm

I'm delighted with this upgrade. :D

I'm just not decided on how to deal with the way the tailpipes sit below the space in the S4 bumper valance. This obviously needs enlarging to accommodate the larger tailpipes, but I'm concerned about the back box knocking if I raise it up.

I know a few others have gone down this route and wondered how you've dealt with it. Any pics would be good

Clive, i see! well mine is touching the bumper, i will take some pics for u mine does need enlarging also, but mine is pre-facelift so i think you have a slightly different lower valance than me? i will also have a side on pic for you, to see how far yours sticks out, do you have one? mine goes out a little way but i recon this reduces the in car boomyness! mine is very quiet inside the car!

Thanks Oli.

Mine only just touches the bumper on one side, and my car is post facelift, so slightly different rear valance. I'm also guessing that the RS4 Miltek exhaust will be slightly different, but at least we can compare notes. (I'm surprised yours hasnt nicely melted away its own little shape by now...)

I'll post some more pics up tonight.

As for the sound, I'm very happy with the deeper, but still discrete, purr, although at higher revs this turns into quite a growl...
Inside the car is also very quiet.

Here is a pic mate, I think we have the same system tho? RS4 Miltek, mines the 2.5" dual system non resonator version.
I too thought it would melt its own shape but nope :)

No Oli - mine's OEM RS4. The Miltek seems to protrude a bit further from the rear, but looks to be a snugger fit height wise.

Yeh does stick out further, i recon extend the curve on your bumper both sides and it will be fine!! not sure wot the pipes are like on a oem rs4 but on mine where it curves from middle box to backbox and goes round the diff i think its very close to the floor of the car and when first put on it knocked a little bit on slowing down. No chance of raising mine up without knocking something up to accomodate this. I wont post anymore pics as this is isnt to do with the miltek hehe :)
here is a modified version of yours to show the bumper modified to fit, without raising the exhaust HTH
haha just noticed the 2 black lines in between the cars ;)

Very helpful Oli, thanks

That's exactly what I'd like to achieve, and then lift the tailpipes up a little - but not at the risk of a knocking back box, so it will probably have to be a case of trial and error.

Nice Clive! yeh its very nice looking, and from the top fits perfectly!! i dont think you would have to do much to get it to fit round the rear valance but raising it up like you say trial and error, definetly with ramps or something. cool! :)
