iTunes music to SD cards - Help!

Post by JMiles » Mon Jun 26, 2006 12:56 pm

So I bought some SD cards and copied 400 songs off iTunes onto each card and they play perfectly once fitted in the slots. One thing is major bugging me though and I really need some help to work it out.....

When I copy the songs over to the card they copy over as I drag them, however when I put the card in the car it jumbles the tracks up.

What I think is happening is that the reader is playing track no1 from each album I copy across and then track no2, etc, etc. It's really annoying and I don't know how to stop it other than possibbly manually copying each song through a seperate folder which would take forever.

What I need to do is find a way (piece of software) that will keep the songs in the order I transfer them to the SD card. I'm not sure if it is just the reading convention on iTunes that is the problem or wheteher it might be the card reader that is screwing them up.

Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers All.

If the file naming convention is to have the track number as the first part fo the filename then that will be what's causing it as it will just play in alphabetical order. I've always stored my music under a folder for each album, within a folder for each artist which should get around the problem you're getting. If you've got it set up like that then you should be able to just copy the main folder that contains all the sub folders across thereby saving you extra hassle copying each individual folder.

I use Tag and Rename software to rename and create playlists and use a similar stratergy as TWH regarding folders.

Not to go of thread, but I-tunes is formatted in a different way to MP3 is it not. I know if I try and copy songs form my I-tunes to phone, it comes up with unknown format message.............probably me showing my age, Ii dont understand these things..... :biggrin2:

Simple - it could be due to DRM propection.

Another way that may help sort the way files are stored is to pre-fix each track with number in the order you want the tracks listed.
