Depends on how honest you are with the insurance!

Plus, I wasn't really planning on full blown turbo conversion, mayby just an ECU remap and Milltek exhaust?

As we all know, you should always be honest with your insurance company.

I would have thought you were in a position to know better? Maybe you work in one of the other departments ;)

the 180s were made from mid 1999 to the end of the B5s ( approx august2001 for the Avants - saloons a bit earlier)
Ours is a mid July 1999 model and it is not, surprisingly, drive by wire. It was chipped by AmD ( in Geoff Everitt's days) to 208bhp. I understand that the dbw versions can go as high as 215 bhp.
Starperformance now do intake manifolds , good for another 10bhp ( and tested on the dyno) and presumably a Milltek exhust also helps.
KO3 turbos are working at or even beyond their limits tho'.
Star are also doing hybrid turbos for these engines and I think 300 bhp is a possibility...... but as already said you could get a S4 for the money you spend, you could even by getting closer to the cheaper end of the RS4 market.
You need better brakes. Stock are 288mms ! It is an easy mod to increase to 312mms, TTcaliper brackets + A6 discs, but these are quite heavy cars, ours weighs in at 1445kgs. Something better is really required and essential if you are doing track days.
Suspension anti roll bars can be upgraded ( to the S4 or RS4 sizes ?)

Suggest you start with a stock version + chip and go from there.
- you ain't never going to keep up with a S4......
The real advantage is they look like ordinary 6/7 years old everyday A4s.

The old hot rodding words spring to mind -- speed costs money, how fast do you want to go ?

If you really want an A4 then fine but it would be cheaper to look at the S2 range.

Thanks for that - very helpful.

CliveH has suggested an S2 but I think they are just a bit too old really.

Hi Dave.

Me, Crazy! Never!
No, I admit I can be a bit of a nutter. CliveH could tell you a story or 2 put it that way!

I would LOVE NoS! But I would fear the reliability problems that comes with it - I really wouldn't want to ruin an Audi.

I've heard you've got a nice bike, you ever thought of a bit of NoS on that?
