S4 questions from wanna-be owner!

Post by fletchie55 » Sat Jun 17, 2006 9:11 am

Hello everyone!
ive been hanging about on here for a while now gathering as much information about my intended purchase as possible but I still have a few things I cant clear up!

firstly does anyone have a list of all the extras that were available on the S4 as options? Every advert I read describes things differently which doesnt make for easy comparison! for example, the uprated stereo... is 'Bose speakers' the same as the 'concert' setup or 'symphony' setup or are they all different? what are the differences and is it possible to tell when looking in the car which is what?

was sunroof standard on the S4 or an option?
are the electric seats also heated or was the heating a seperate option?
some advert mention ski hatch, am I correct in thinking this had to be specified as an extra option?! does the avant have this as standard or 60/40 folding seats?
were Xenon lights standard or an option?

Apologies for the simple questions but I cant seem to find the answers anywhere else, and it does seem rather odd that a car of this price would come without so many features as standard!

My previous toy was a fairly well tinkered Fiat Coupe 20valve turbo which was pretty good fun and rather understated 220BHP standard, 265BHP final figure with very little work. Im hoping the S4 can provide the same sort of fun :-) I have about 4 weeks until I get back to the UK and go car hunting.

thanks in advance!
Joe

Hi

Not 100% on the radio stuff but for the others....

Sunroof - option
electric seats - standard heat - option
ski hatch/bag - option
Xenon - standard

HTH and also hope I'm correct :?

Welcome Joe,

There is a thread on here somewhere which lists all the options on the S4 (and their prices), but try as I might I can't find it, but I'm sure someone will be along soon with a link.

In the meantime, I can confirm that the following items that you mention were options :-

BOSE sound (I think it's the amplifier as well as the speakers)
Sunroof
Electric seats and heated seats were both options

Xenon lights were standard
Not sure about ski-hatch

Happy hunting!

Doh I was wrong about the electric seats...

Also beware that often ads say the cars have recaro when often then don't...

Correct, 6spd only, but I believe the automatic that was made for the US market had a 5spd box

Are you sure? I was always under the impression that the very first S4's were 5-speed gearbox. The 6-speed box arrived when the Avant went on sale

Thanks again for all the input!

next question....! Ive been keeping my eye on autotrader, and spotted a rather nice looking silver S4 avant Reg S4 FBS, for £8900 with 63k on the clock, does anyone know this car? what do you all think? Im trying to convince my dad to go and check it out for me and maybe buy it (Im still offshore working). Is this a facelift model? Im not realy sure if its possible to tell from the pictures.

cheers
