Aston Green Slough put Mobil 1 in RS and S cars. As long as it meets the specification (503.01) then it is approved by Audi, although your car gets Castrol Formula SLX from the factory...

My S3 is currently at 17,800 miles with the service indicator saying 800 miles till next service - this will be the first oil change for this car, and yes it seems to be putting a lot more power out than standard.

How many people on here change the oil/filter themselves rather than getting the audi dealer to do it?

I only have audi do the main services, a mate of mine does the oil change and filter at 5k.

I use Mobil One for both (just take it to the dealer and ask them to use it)

BTW, mobil one do a service history of their own, so when you come to sell the car you can prove that you've used mobil one, and also how often you've changed it.

Sure, you can probably change the oil only every 20,000 miles, and the car will be fine. Or maybe the turbos will need to be replaced at 60,000 miles. Was it just bad luck, or was it the slightly too viscous oil causing excess wear? You'll never know.

Although knackered turbos may be the jolt required to go for KO4's - worked for me

I had a turbocharger replaced like 5000kms into my car (now has 12,000kms) they replaced all the filters, oils and did a wheel alightment and fixed my linkages in the gearbox, replaced the gearbox mounts and also added the syntrax, since then the Gearbox shifts are silky smooth and the car runs like a treat

Now to find someone to send me some 18" RSTT alloys all the way to Australia!

Free Mobile 1? It cost me about 300 AUD from Parramatta!
