Steve, there are various pics around on here of my black car with tints, don't ask what kind they are, I haven't a clue.

I have seen information which suggests that 'normal', untinted, glass only passes around 85% light and that a factory tint usually reduces this to somewhere between 70% and 80%.

Peter - thats correct, factory tint is 30% or allows 70% through - thats the legal limit for front side windows ...you can do what you like with the rears...

Oh, and the gun - isn't a real one as such. There are so many ifs and buts that occur in these situations but I'm certain of one thing. If I was carjacked with my wife then my only option other than to hand over the keys would be to floor it. If they were pointing a gun at me in ANY scenario then it goes without saying the keys get handed over. The gun wouldn't make an appearance. If I was on my own, away from my home, however and it was a fist or a basball bat outside the window I know I would react differently. Right or wrong. I'd lose control and do everything I could to stop them.

I know the right thing to do for safety's sake is let them have what they want, but where is this country going if that becomes the norm? Crime then becomes the easiest job in the world. Guess it's down to the politicans to do something.... Oh great!

Bob...I share a lot of your sentiments, but I think carrying around an imitation firearm in your glovebox with a view to pulling it out under some circumstances is a bit daft. Someone at my old company pulled a paintball gun on somebody during a road-rage incident and ended up with 6 months in jail as a result (and of course lost his job). It just isn't worth it.

i am not a vigilante by any means but i do believe that it is too easy to blame politicians for our troubles.

we should be ready to to a degree make a stand for what is right otherswise you are right and the country goes further to the dogs.

the politicians only really make policies that they think we want to see to keep them in power. In the recent past they thoiught we wanted a PC culture and civil liberties and rights of the individuals protected OVER AND ABOVE a just system and public safety.

You can see all that now drifting back towards a more centre right policy and then onto a police state and I guess it will drift past the correct medium and end up too tough over the next 10 years.

at the end of the day the world is inherently unsafe and we need to stand up at certain times to protect ourselves and those around us.

I even voted this year for the first time. NExt i will be standing for the local council!!!!!!!!!

seriously you pull out a fake gun and they don't run away are you going say 'i was only joking' i've been jacked in my own room back at uni, you'd be suprised at the risks people take for the money to buy a pair of trainers and trackies

its a paintball pistol, holds ten balls, great fun in normal circumstances, but bloody painful none the less. One in the chops would be seriously sore, so if they didn't run away... Anyway here's hoping none of us find ourselves in the situation in the first place.
