Couple of 4's and 6's on the grid I see.

Not that I'd be allowed to go...

Looks great fun.......Done the Beaujolaise run a few times but nothing like that. Perhaps we should organise a 246 run to say.......Whitby for chips. that's about my limit.

Cheers, MartynC

Don't know where Whitby is, but that sounds fun, especially for chips.

I'll race you....

How about a spoof Gumball - where we go to, let's say Whitby for chips. Then back home before we get in trouble from our wives, and tucked up in bed because we've got a long day tomorrow...

I could perhaps stop at a local Fort or Folly on the way home.

Doesn't know where Whitby is??!!

Bob I'm ashamed of you, don't you watch Heartbeat?.....................no probably not as sad as me. The fish and chips really are good though.

Spoof Gumball sounds great. perhaps 'Softball 2006' if we all have to home in time for tea? Will the race be with or without Zimmers? :?

Very good..

I know where Whitby is now, thanks to the fountain of knowledge that is GMTV. The weather lady broadcast from there banging on about fish and chips.

Under-The-Thumball - we have to make stops every two hours. Not to go to the pub or pick up some strippers, but to phone our wives to tell them what time we'll be home, and that it won't be late, we promise.

I just HAD to go for a spin yesterday so drove up to Shropshire and back to see the old man. Great fun apart from getting zapped AGAIN (I think?!) by a copper, and the shocking traffic through B'ham.

Hurry up and organise something my licence is now hanging by a thread.

Observation, observation, observation Bob! When I am driving the 6 I am scanning every hedge, layby, turning for anything remotely BiB.

Another tip, before going on a burn, check the various forces websites as to were they have there mobile units deployed on the day. Most forces do it although it is not always accurate its better than not checking :?

I have found the Speed, Plod & the Law forum on pistonheads.com really useful for advice. Its frequented by BiB who are fellow petrolheads and happy to give real advice on such 'situations'

Was behind a lorry in the slow lane, came up behind, not sure what I was doing, perhaps high 80's. He was on his bike facing the oncoming traffic, right on the verge (no hard shoulder) anyway he seemed to be chatting on his little boom mic as I went past, he wasn't holding any sort of gun, or no flash from the bike, he just looked over his shoulder at me as I passed - braking... Thought he was going to switch his lights on and come and get me but he didn't.

What do you think? Have I been zapped by his bike? A la KITT? Was certainly doing less than 90ish, as my beeper on the DIS is set for about that.

Sounds like you got lucky.

He definitely noticed you and decided not to bother. If he was on radio about you he would have been calling someone further up the road and you'd know by now. 14 days will tell, but I think you've got lucky.

cheers Damon, at least for making me feel better. I should learn a bit more about Plods technology - I always thought he'd have to have a gun pointing at you - but then convinced myself that they are built into the bike - then I wondered, do they come after you or just take pictures? Do they have to set up a warning sign like they have on the vans? etc etc

I'll do some research

get into the pistonheads forum it answers all those questions.

They dont have devices mounted on bike to trap speed, so unless he was pointing a device at you your fine. As he didn't have a reading he could have 'formed an opinion' and then he would have stopped you, or radio ahead for a nearby car if they were working in-tandem. They don't have warning sign's for themselves, but only operate in the areas that have the permanent speedtrap warning signs up, like on the A41 and A5 from Telford.
