RS4 Recall..??

Post by AGW » Wed Apr 26, 2006 9:19 am

Has anyone heard about a recall on the B7, a guy at my dealership said that some B7's were recalled because of a spark plug fault :?:

I have looked on google, VOSA etc but can't find any details of this recall. Was it a fault that did not effect UK vehicles..?

Cheers

Yes thats right, my dealer called me a week or two after I had mine to say the spark plugs needed changing, so got it done. Don't know anymore details than this though I'm afraid, car still runs the same. I did hear from someone it was something to do with the car having problems if you started it and didn't let it run for very long before switching off. Don't know anymore than this though, sorry

Thanks for the reply, just thought it a bit odd with not being able to find any info on the web about a recall!!

I'll check with my dealer A.S.A.P to see if mine needs the recall doing.

Cheers

My dealer mentioned to me 2 weeks after I got my RS4 that the plugs are virtually racing grade and when the car is started it should be run until it reaches operationg temperature before switching off.

They had to replace the plugs on a few cars as they had started misfirng as a result of this.

There has been no universal recall as far as I know, they seem to be dealing with customers on an as required basis.

They are delivered with special (read crap) plugs and then the dealer has to fit the proper ones at PDI - maybe some have been missed :audibash:

I had one incident where I started the car and it fired up but it was really struggling to keep ticking over. I switched off, tried again and all was ok, wonder if this incident was related to this issue?

My plugs were also changed - I was told that the new ones are not as prone to oil up.

Same here - the dealer changed mine at PDI also - mentioned that the delivery ones were "the wrong type".

Not had any problems starting it at all.

Starting is fine - I still think that it runs a little rough until warm.

I had heard this was and ECU fault and to do with the order the injectors were shut down or somehting. There is a topic on here that covers this.

Mine is as rough when cold, almost like it's misfiring for about half a mile.

I must admit for the first mile mine seems to misfire too, it kind of stutters - soon clears up though
