As S4woody states - drive your own lap. No point in trying to race some of the locals. I've been in the past in my P1 which was more suited for track use. The RS6 is a different banana so no heroics. Try to familiarise yourself with the car and the track. Learning the lines on GT4 helps. As soon as you tyres start losing grip, back off the right foot and use the flappy paddles to slow the car down saving tyres and brakes. Don't even contemplate putting semi/full slicks either as the extra grip'll mess up your suspension. You've listed most of the things required. The most important thing to keep in mind is that you want to come back to Blighty in the things you drove in in a nutshell. Most important is to have a jolly good time and don't try to prove anything. There that's my 2pence worth

Thanks for the sensible advice, don't worry I will be be going 5/10's all weekend. I've got nothing to prove to anyone, just want to enjoy the experience and have a great time. Bought a new DSLR camera so will be posting plenty of pics here.

I am interested in your comment on semi/full slicks and the effects on suspension. I can imagine increased grip would create additional load, is that what you mean? Can you elaborate? I priced some lightw wheel and Yoko's from Demon Tweeks as an option for this trip.

Additional load yes, (including lateral loading). Basically, you'll need to overhaul the suspension. It'll to have to be a lot stronger to take the extra grip from the racing tyres (remember the RS6 is nearly 2 tonnes). The other way is to reduce the weight of the car by some 400kgs.

Go with the car as it is. No point spending on mods before the trip (you'll need the cash for relacing bits afterwards - ie: brake pads, discs and tyres). Find you comfort zone on the ring.

If you go slicks......... you will also need to look at the fuel and oil feeds......... last thing you want to do is create lack of oil half way through a corner...........

Oh - one thing - helps to empty the car of anything before doing the lap. Ask mate to borrow his boot!!!!
