Hi-Fi questions

Post by BenCole45 » Fri Apr 21, 2006 12:23 pm

Which if any B6/B7 S4 stereos/nav can play MP3 files?

Also there seems to be lots of levels (symphony/concert etc)

What is the "pecking order" of hi-fi/nav?

Just burn them as CDA, then they all can!

The DVD Nav has two SD card slots behind the screen and will take up to 4G SD cards (or 512 file/folder items). I use a couple o 2G cards, one for me and one for the wife.

Cheers Mark, can it play files burned onto a disc?

Pete, I think you've missed my point. 1 cd of CDA/WAV files is 80 mins max. 1 cd of MP3 could easily be 10 times as much.

I've grown used to having 50+ albums at my fingertips when driving.

If 8GB on SD is not enough then you might want to tink about a phatnoise unit, but you will not get the title / artist info like you do with the SD option.
You can also fit a Dension interface for an iPod should you already have one.

You will get the artist/title etc but only spoken. At least you can look where you're going rather than looking at the display.

Sounds like Ben could do with something like my 80Gb phatbox .

I was joking

An audio CD's files will always be in cda format, not .wav (.wavs are converted to cda during the burning process).

But, further to your question, and for ultimate sound quality, does anyone know of a system that can read data burnt on a DVD? Even if you didn't burn .wavs, and plumped for best quality 320 kbps mp3s, you would be able to fit a hell of a lot more on it than on CD....
