Insurance woe - saved by...

Post by Dippy » Thu Apr 20, 2006 2:15 pm

Noel Dazely.

Well my renewal came in from the NFU Mutual. It was lower than last year but not much so I thought I'd shop around. Past experience has showed that NFU has been very competitive.

Based on advice here I contacted Noel Dazely and Greenlight.

ND came in first at about 100 notes less than NFU. But the XS sounded higher so I phoned the NFU to confirm what my XS is (I thought 200 but wanted to check).

So they tell me:
100 compulsory,
100 voluntary and...(long pause)
1000 accidental damage because of your mods.

"What??? When did you ever tell me about that grand XS? (long pause)"

"We have just applied it for this new term."

"So why is it not mentioned on my renewal letter?"

"Sorry sir that is an oversight - we'll look into that."

"So if I get a better quote elsewhere, are you interested in trying to match it?"

"No a lot we can do sir...except perhaps increase your XS!!!"

So thank f*** for Noel Dazely who are now my new broker.
Greenlight came in good too, but ND was the better quote.

Nice one Dippy.

I stayed with Greenlight in the end as their trackday cover is now £ 50/day with double the normal excess.

Was that a limited mileage policy Simon?

I would have snapped their hands off at 450 but they never even phoned me back which they said they would do if they could get close to my current premium - guess they couldn't.

Bit of a lottery if you ask me.

Any chance you could give me Noel Dazy's number?

Cheers

those of you insured with Greenlight etc - do you need to have a tracker device fitted as a condition?

Yes, I think you do. It was a requirement when I moved to them in 2003 and has been in the renewal conditions each year since.
