Been driving for a few days now with my short shifter fitted. I put it on the shortest setting and have no regrets. More precise, tighter shifts and excellent value for money :thumb:

Keep your spares, as your using a nylon bucket with a nipple that could shear or wear.... just my thoughts anyway
Good buys though guys .... :thumb:

My nylon bucket that came out never had no nipple on it??? Maybe it was worn out then :? Feels alot better with the metal pin. :D

Yeah the nipple must have gone, I dont think it will pose problems, but i have never tried to rotate the gear stick without that indent on the selector shaft....?
Probably impossible to select a "bad" gear, but I would'nt want to try it, on both metal buckets i had to re-profile the nipple..... sorry forgot to say... use a file.... but its very soft, zinc coated, unlike the gear stick....

just fitted one of these to Clives. our experience.....the reverse pin hole was too small, 3.0mm as opposed to 5.0mm on the pin, drilled the hole almost all the way through then hammered the pin in for a really tight fit. we also didn't have the rivetty thing. the change from first to second is extremely notchy, it seems as if the lever is going too far to the left and becoming caught on the gate, just using the palm of the hand to engage first or second seems to work best, all the other gears are fine. we also lost a screw down the side of the transmission tunnel and the heat shield requiring a quick jacking up of the car and some frantic scrabbling in the dark to retrieve it. on 25% there's a huge reduction in throw but some of that could be down to the lever being about 50.0mm shorter which requires the sleeve inside the shift boot cutting down to suit.

I had that problem. But after a lot of f**king about with adjusting the bottom allen bolt(bolts the mechanism to the shaft), made a good improvement.

Mines notchy in that way too, first to second arent straight up and down, it shifts to the left top and bottom,
you get used to it, it becomes nothing when your driving is adjusted to it ....... certainy know which gear your in ....
I thought it was coz i did it in the dark ....

I believe it's about £250 give or take £20-£30 Quid. Which is about 5 times more than the one i paid for from Ebay :D. Like rolskii said you soon get used to the way it moves in and out of first to second. Well worth the saving of a couple of hundred Quid IMO

OUCH... that is a HUGE difference in price. I was thinking it would be about 80-100 and I thought I would stretch the budget... but 250 - thats outrageous :(

Guess the ebay one will have to do.

Check out the Vast Performance (aka "piggie" on Audiworld) shifter. I've got one in mine and it's great. It was round £70 I think (from memory).
